Default Save energy while surfing the net.

There is a website called blackle.com it uses the same search engine as google.ca. But since the background is black instead of white it saves energy.blackle.com

I don't buy it. In order to "conserve energy", wouldn't it actually have to turn those pixels off? If I'm not mistaken, that's not possible.

Save energy? No.

But I do like a dark theme for whatever I can, so thanks for the link.

A few days ago, Google had a black background for about a day.

It won't save energy for LCD screens because the way it's made it's always lit up, no matter what color (which is the reason for the "black level" problem).

The best way to save energy is to shut it down at night.

But then you can't run folding@home at night. It's each person's call.

This is the most absurd thing that I've ever heard of. Anyone who actually believes that will conserve energy is a total disgrace to humanity.

It's a smart campaign for blackle if that's what they're using. It's not going to save any energy, but may drive more people to them that don't know hte difference.

There are people out there who seriously believe that a computer consumes so much energy during startup, that it is more energy efficient to keep the computer & monitor on 24/7, than turning it on just twice a day!

I can't see this cutting down on power consumption.

The best way to conserve energy is to go to your friends house and cut all his power cords. Make sure you do it on the slow ones so you can get hours of entertainment as they can't figure out why nothing turns on.
