Question any way to "zoom in" on the movies? (removing black bars)

Is there any way to get rid of the black bars on the PS3 itself or do you only have the option to do it w/the tv remote? I mean is there any way for the PS3 to do the zooming rather than your tv, as my progressive scan dvd player from Sony has that option. Any ideas?

I have the 1.32 update installed so I can use the remote

http://www.us.playstation.com/ps3/network/updates

but I don't think I saw any zooming or cropping options in the set up maybe I'm wrong and haven't found it yet. What will the firmware do for the cropping/zooming though?

The only zoom I do is the one built into my tv set. I don't remember seeing a zoom on the player.

Zooming is bad.

If you have your set calibrated properly the black bars should fade into the background in a dark room.

I found the option by doing the pan and scan option on the PS3. Now my display says full, but I'm still filling up the screen no bars. I was F'in around in the set up screen and under display options I think for video format or something there was a pan and scan feature you could turn on, so now my display says full, but no bars.

Why would any one want to zoom in on the picture to get a full frame sort of defeats the purpouse of getting a blu ray player doesn't it. I a really looking foward to going to circut city and not having to look and see if it is widescreen or not.

You know by having no black bars on the top and bottom of movies like Casino Royal (2:25:1) and Speed (2:35:1)your not getting the whole frame right? This even goes if you have a Widescreen TV. If any of you are still asking why well your widescreen TV's are only 1:76:1
