Post Stallone plans "Death Wish" remake

According to wikipedia.org, Empire Magazine reports that Sylvester Stallone's next film is the remake of "Death Wish". Does anyone out there think that he'll be able to fill the already gigantic shoes left by the late, great Charles Bronson?

This is what Stallone had to say back when Rocky Balboa was about to be released:

Quote:
I really enjoyed doing this Q&A and I plan on doing it again. First, I’d like to get your feedback on the idea of remaking DEATHWISH with a slightly different slant. Instead of the Charles Bronson character being an architect; my version would have him as a very good cop who had incredible success without ever using his gun. So when the attack on his family happens, he’s really thrown into a moral dilemma in proceeding to carry out his revenge.

Never liked Charles Bronson, so I'm sure Stallone would do a good job with it.

Hell No, its a classic and so was Bronson's performance. Won't have anything close to the same impact the original had. Much different times.

Stallone is really going to the well with all these remakes. That last really good film he made was "Copland".

No offence to any bronson fan but every single one of the deathwish movies brings new meaning to the word cheese. If anything stallone can actually make one that is good and have quality acting in it with a decent plot. While i dont mind watching deathwish 3 which was my favorite of the series, the acting is god awfull in it going back and watching them as a adult.

I dont think there is a single thing Stallone could do to tarnish the deathwish brand, and if anything it is a good possibility he could make the best one of this entire series yet.

Does Jeff Goldblum get to reprise his "Goddamn rich C.." line?

If Stallone does Death Wish the way of Rambo, I'd be all over it.

None taken, I'm only referring to the first one, the sequels sucked. Stallone may come up with a more polished version but thats pretty easy these days with hundreds of millions spent on production and special effects, they can spend all they money they want, it wont affect people the same way the original did.

As for the plot, it touched a nerve with many people who lived in New York in the 70s (such as myself) and in other big cities when the film originally premiered. It has been ripped off literally hundreds of times over the years on film and TV, some ended up being better films I have to admit but they were imitations. The execution (no pun intended) may have been lacking but the final product is a classic that influenced hollywood in ways (good or bad) that few films have since.

Technically, wouldn't he be filling Jodie Foster's shoes?

(And can Sly walk in heels?)

What a joke. Sly has got to be older than Rumplestiltskin. The only Death Wish is his career. Let go already. Soon he'll be selling Abreva on TV infomercials.

It's like Fire Island after Labor Day --- OVER!*

I don't think he would have the aplomb of Michael Winner. Next it will be Sly Stallone the gastronome!!! (it even rhymes).

I think Stallone can pull it off, he's a very good actor... but I thought that he was working on Rambo V, filming in Bulgaria?
