Default New 5.1 receiver help

I need some help I want a new receiver that has Hd audio output because the PS3 is getting HD audio as you all know but i want 5.1 because i just dont have the room for 7.1. I want to spend no more that 350-400 so any input would be great (and the other reason for not wanting 7.1 is I dont want to buy 2 more speakers)

Try the Onkyo 605 ~ $400
it will run in 5.1 mode just fine

well, most newer receivers that are capable of HD audio are going to be 7.1

But you can still use a 5.1 set-up, you just tell the Receiver that you have 5.1 speakers, it adjusts accordingly. Plus its better to have the option for 7.1 down the road...but like I said, most new receivers out now are 7.1 anyway.

but for your price range I would look at:

Onkyo TX-SR605 ($380 + FREE SHIPPING)

Yamaha RX-V663 ($399 + FREE SHIPPING)

I have three Pioneer receivers (including a Pioneer Elite) ranging from about $200 to $1130 that I'm very happy with. I like their ease of use, auto-calibration, and great sound. For $350 you can get their top of the line model (short of the Elites).
