I was wondering if anyone has had to have their PS3 sent back to Sony for repairs. My 60Gigs video does not work and was wondering since it is out of the warranty period what kind of cost am I looking at to have it fixed. Any previous experiences/knowledge would be much appreciated, thanks.

I haven't sent one in myself, so I have no experience with turnaround, but I think I remember someone saying repairs usually ran around $150 for out of warranty consoles.

Turnaround time is excellent, I had a brand new system a week from when I called them. Called Wednesday, they overnighted me a return box, sent it out Fri afternoon and I had shipping confirmation that night the new one was sent out 3 day ground. Had it on Wednesday afternoon. I was under warranty since it was only a few months after I purchased it so it didn't cost me anything

Thanks guys for the quick response. $150 ain't bad, and it happened a few months ago I just haven't gotten around to wanting to fix it. When it happened I immediately went out and bought a 40Gig because I could not survive without a PS3. When I get it fixed it just means that I'll have 2 PS3s in the house, booyah!

Did you buy it on a credit card? Amex, MC, or Visa?
If so, you should check to see if it's still under warranty under your credit card's warranty extension/warranty manager. |
