20th Century Fox Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007) (Extreme Unrated Set)

Didn't see lgans316's usual thread so I guess I'll create it.

Just got done watching the movie and thought it was much better than the first. A lot more action, a lot more gore and they focus on the aliens and predator fighting a lot more. The movie is very dark but the PQ/SQ are great with some excellent demo worthy scenes (especially near the end). Anyway, I really enjoyed it.

I'm curious to see if I'll be the only person that likes it. None of the reviewers seemed to like it (they gave the movie itself low marks).

Anyway, another thing I liked, I thought they focused a little more on the predator this time around.

Amazon delivers yet again! Even with Amazon Prime 2nd day shipping, my preorders get here overnight.

I will be watching AVP:R tonight. I used the digital copy feature and already have it primed to play on my Mac. I took a peak: the digital copy is the unrated version.

I have a huge bag of Tostitos, a quart of salsa and a bottle of merlot all set for my late-night screening of AVP:R (starting around 4 am, but that late I cannot blast the surround sound ). I read that AVP:R is a bloodbath so I might not be munching out as much as I think.

I am still miffed at Amazon.com about listing the AVP 2-pack as having FOUR discs. AVP1 has no second disc, thus no digital copy.

God the audio on this movie is frigging amazin. Seriously.

The pq is great as well, few rough spots here and there.

But the unrated cut > theatrical ten times, minimum. The theatrical cut blows compared to the unrated cut.

And yes, I rewound the scene in the pool. You know what im talking about.

All in all, worth the purchase for 27.95.

OK, now I'm officially . Was the movie mostly on the suspenseful side? Or any true terrifying moments?

I really liked it. It had all the classic elements and some new tidbits to boot.

AVP2 all the way and the DTS Master Audio mixes to PCM 5.1 on my Receiver beautifully.

Ahem... didn't you get yours from Amazon? I was certain that you pre-ordered it and that you have Amazon Prime? Yes? No?

I don't have any Shiraz so I'm going with my favorite Merlot. However, watching AVP:R in the dark with a glass of red (not to mention the salsa) could be a mistake if this movie turns out to be the gorefeast it's hyped to be. I better keep a barf bag nearby just in case.

I just use my shirt. Or the cat if he's near by. Is this thread morphing into your favourite AVPR watching Snack?

The movie is indeed incredibly dark.

I have my brightness all the way up, and some of the scenes are still difficult to see.

You should turn your lights down instead of up.

Just finished watching AVP-R and during the movie, towards the second half, around the time the time the national guard was getting picked off, the disc would pause and all of a sudden resumed play about once every 30 or so seconds. It happened several times until I got tired of it, stopped the disc, turned off the player. When I started playing it it started diong it again at the same point. This kept happening on and off until the movie was over.

Did anyone else notice something like this on their version?
