Default DVI to HDMI, PC to HDTV

When I connect my PC to the TV with a DVI to HDMI cable, the screen gets cut off on the sides. The TV is automatically set to 1080i and I can't seem to change it.

I tried going to display settings on my PC and with Nvidia control panel to adjust the resolution down to 1280x720 but it keeps resetting to 1920x1080 everytime I try to change it.

I have both my monitor and TV hooked up and showing at the same time BTW if that matters.

Yea, so anyone know how I can fix it? Can't seem to change resolution either.

Thanks.
