Default Noticeable Difference between 46" & 52" XBR4?!?!?!?

I'm a newbie on this thread and i had a question that will help me desciding which size Sony Bravia to buy. Im torn betwwen the 52 and the 46 Sony Bravia KDLXBR4's. The 52" is $2999 and the 46" is $2188. Now my question is WILL I GET FULL 1080P output on the 46" screen or just the 52". I hear people saying that u will ONLY notice full 1080p on screens that a 50" and larger. Is this true? or will i see no differnce regardless of sz? any help is appreciated.

it all depends how close you sit to your screen. i have a 40 inch HDTV and because i sit 5 feet away from my screen, i can tell a big, big difference on just a 40 incher.

Lol. 1080p can be seen on a 26 inch set. Just not from a far distane. Now the farther in size you go up the more you can be stunned by the clarity. 720p sucks hands down to 1080p. Aswell as 1080i which is more like 720p. Now it wont matter at that size but the 52 will offer more wow as its bigger in size. get the 52 if you have the money. :0 and get a blu ray player too! Aka ps3 also

i see. i already have a PS3 and about 30 Blu rays that im just dying to watch on a 1080p TV. I currently have a 720P , but i plan on getting the XBR4 by the end of May. Also, is there any truth to the XBR4 series not being a good tv for playing Video Games? I will definitly watch movies, but playing my PS3 is what i love to do best?

Default Get the 52"

When in doubt get the larger size HDTV because at the end you would always wish for a larger screen once you get use to looking at it.

get the 52.

It is just amazing for the performance, PQ when I watch BDs. You can never have big enough TV.

(I sit about 7 feet away from TV and the 52 is just WOW)

Trust me, its worth it.

Forget what people tell you in here because it's all anecdotal evidence and the experience varies by infinite uncontrolled variables.

Do some research. Figure out what set would be perfect for your viewing distance, and then figure out how pixels, resolution, and screen size work because nobody else in this forum seems to know (or at least make decisions based on them).

Honestly it should not matter too much. I LOVE my 46", every time I look at it, I swear it is bigger than that...

It all matter an how close you put the TV. For optimal distance, there is a graph you can use. It should not make a major difference at that size, but 65" IS huge and will look it.
It is all up to you and how much space you have to work with.

Why wait for the XBR5? For a shiney bezel, RS232, and 6 months longer on the warranty? Nah....

QFT

When looking at new TVs (I want to put my 42" Panny 720p as a workout TV so the elliptical doesnt make me fall asleep of boredom) I looked up the difference between the 4 and the 5. There isnt a chance in hell that I will pay that extra markup for "individually inspected parts" and other nonsense.

The XBR5 is something that may be nice if you have infinite funds laying around, but it isnt worth the value if budget means anything. You can simply buy the TV on a good credit card and get the extra year warranty anyway.

I have a XBR4 46" and love, love, LOVE it! I'm a pretty big gamer too as well as a bluray lover and all my ps3 games look amazing on it. I play mostly Guitar Hero 3, Call Of Duty 4, Resistance Fall of Man and Gran turismo 5 and have no complaints at all.

For $800 you get an extra 6 inches. Do it.

I had the same choice and I went with the bigger TV with no regrets.

I have the 52 XBR3 and love it. I would pay the extra and get a 52. Whenever I go out now and see tvs in bars or other places they always look small and crappy.
