bah, why do they keep changing it. we need a general discussion(or at least the name means more than what it isw now). if anything merge the hardware forums into one. they arent busy enough to have them all seperated. i suggest under Home Theater have a "General Home Theater" Forum, a "Picture" Forum (for the tv's/projectors), and a "Audio" Forum (for recievers etc)

If people would have used the General Discussion as it was intended we wouldn't have had to change it, but most of the posts in that section were posts that really should have been posted in other sections of the forum to begin with (related to movie releases, players or topics that belong in off-topic).

It would be helpful if you could give some examples of topics that you feel would fit into General Discussion that don't fit into the other sections that exist and we'll consider how to best remedy the situation.

As for merging smaller forums into bigger ones, while some of them might not be very active yet we have to look at what's best for the forum in the long term. If we were to create these "mega"-forums with a few different topics we would still need to split them some time in the future when these smaller topics become more popular and going back through all of the posts and manually sorting them into the proper sections would just take way too much work.

wickywoo got rid of it, because the GD had the discussion in it where he was horribly and adimitely wrong about MGS IV being only on a BD25, when in fact its on a BD50. He had to do this in order to preserve the fact that he is never wrong. He is like Big Brother from 1984.

Sorry wicky, im jk. but if you do know what happened to the GD Im curious to

Just to clarify, General Discussion was simply renamed to Blu-ray Technology and News, which better reflects what we originally intended to be discussed in that forum:

I think there might be a better name for that forum than "Blu-ray Technology and News". It won't affect long term readers of the site but I doubt a newbie coming to this forum off a google search would necessarily know what that title means or misinterpret it. Maybe something like "Blu-ray News & Discussion" or something easier to understand the intent of that forum's field of interest. Just a suggestion...

We are no longer allowed to discuss general subjects. "General" is just too obtuse a concept. Thus, we need to focus our discussion on the topics of each available forum. This will prevent confusion.

Is that what happens?

I like the change. I would rather have the Discussion topics above the HT topics, but that's me.
