Help me decide. Should I get a Pioneer Elite 95, Sony ES 2000, or Denon 3800.Or should I wait till summer and see what comes out. I have a Sony KDL 56 XBR 4 that I love so I want the best picture quality I can buy but don't want something that in eight months wish I would have waited. Any thoughts.

If you are limiting to those, get the Denon. It's the only one of the three that's 1.1, the only one that decodes DTS-HD MA, and the best DACs.
advice? Wait a few months for the new Pioneer, the new Panasonic and the new Sony players. Get a used player or a 40GB PS3 to bridge the gap. |

Easily the Denon 3800 if you want the best. The Pioneer has been discontinued because they will have a new one, although still not quite as good as the Denon. Sony would be the last on my list, no features, no DTSMA, etc. Easily the Denon on my vote

In order of audio quality; Denon, Pioneer, Sony.
Sony makes the best lcd tvs so you made the right choice on sets. Sony's audio equipment has higher total harmonic distortion than the others listed. |

Using PSB Stratus for speakers, some older Marantz for audio ( series 9000 THX Ultra five channel amp and preamp, Wireworld Silver video and audio cables and Cambridge Audio sub. My main two channel audio room is conrad johnson and Oracle with a pair of Innersound ES speakers. Sound quality is important but want the most detailed picture with the truest colors.Don't know about SD DVD and such. Always been a two channel audio man so I need help with these new Blu Ray terms.

Both of the new sony's (bdp-s350/s550) will be 2.0, and decode every last audio codec out there.............(maybe you should do your homework before you start giving advise)

![]() If your pre is older i.e. it won't accept HDMI, nor decode 2/3 of the lossless audio codecs (TrueHD/DTS HD MA), you'll want a player which decodes them and sends via analog. The Denon 3800 does this now and the audio via analog out is superb - as good as it gets. The Denon will not play SACD, if that's important to you, though Denon has hinted that its next player may do so. It's also not profile 2.0, so if future downloadable BD content is important to you, you'll need to wait a bit. PQ with the 3800 is also superb, both for BD's and for upscaled SD DVD's. I am more than well aware of all of the models out there, however he is concerned with video quality. Can you please list the video processor in the Denon, then list the video processor in the Sony models? The HQV Realta is the best video processor available in DVD/BD players, which the Denon has. The Sony is using a no-name video processor, probably a cheaper model from faroudja or a Sony model. And anyways, the Denon still has a lot better audio processor than the Sony as well, using the highest Burr Brown DAC's. So before you go and try and accuse me of not knowing my stuff, don't give a smart ass comment. Look at what he wants...a really good player. Out of the three models he asked about. I listed in order their expected performance. He didn't ask about the other two Sony models (only the ES2000, which is identical to the s500, with a double sturdy chassis), which will still underperform compared to the Denon and now discontinued Pioneer model, which will be replaced with a 1.1 Pioneer. And the Sony S350 isn't expected to decode DTS HDMA, only bistsream. (douche bag-do your research and read what he is asking for).

I love Sony ES products and the five year warranty doesn't hurt, but of the three listed I would have to say the Denon would be the one to get.
However, I agree with other posters here......wait for some of the new players that will be profile 2.0 and in the meantime buy a PS3. |

YES.
All 3 are good. So is Yamaha for sound (imo). Denon is probably the best but also the most expensive. But I would wait till summer since new BD players are out and you might as well get the latest tech. |
