Default I Have A $5.00 Budget! Help!

No, the period is in the correct place.

I don't need help spending my money, I was just posting to say that I have some 22AWG RCA cables from Monoprice coming in the mail because the old ones were the junk that they give away in box with VCR's and such. Also, I noticed there were some cuts in the old thin ones with a tiny bit of the wire showing.

If anyone remembers the topic I started a while ago (in the receiver discussion) about some speaker clicking happening every so often, that is one of the reasons why I am getting the better cables; to eliminate any possibility of that being the reason for the clicking.

I was just wondering though, does anyone think I will notice a big difference in audio quality/clarity with these new premium RCA cables?

Looking at the equipment list, assuming it wasn't a bad cable (rare if ever) I'm going to go with "NO" You won't notice any difference whatsoever..... I think you have a receiver/speaker problem.

good luck.

Thank you for the information. I needed new RCA's anyway. I also have a can of compressed air that I am going to use to blow out any possible dust inside the unit. (<-- Some things that were suggested to me in the other thread.)

It's not like it's a huge problem, I would just prefer getting rid of it.

Actually, we didn't have enough RCA cables to hook up both the VCR to the monitor, and the Blu-ray player to the receiver at the same time, so this will prevent switching the cables around whenever someone (*points at his father*) wants to watch standard TV on the monitor, or a movie.

I'm using the RCA cables because of crackinhedz's (is that correct?) thread that I have read quite a while ago about "old school receivers and lossless audio."

My receiver is really old and doesn't even have an HDMI port, and before I read the information that crackinhedz gave, I was always using an optical cable for audio, which wouldn't properly carry the PCM soundtrack; it provided only 2.0 sound in that mode, or whatever it is.

The RCA cables allow me to listen to LPCM the best that my receiver is capable of until I upgrade to a new unit.

Ack! I can't view the article because Windows Vista doesn't like Adobe Acrobat Reader...is there any other way I can read it?

EDIT: Never mind, it is working now. I will have to read the rest of it later though. Very interesting article.

I am very satisfied with the cables. I doubt there is any improvement in audio quality from my previous RCA cables, but it does sound very nice and crisp allowing me to locate depth in sounds, such as in the beginning scene in Ratatouille outside of the house while it is raining. Any perceived improvement could just be a placebo effect to the ears.
