I don't know how valid what I heard is now, because it was quite awhile, and a pile of politicking ago,.

Thank Christ. I was afraid they'd killed it. Here's the page on myspace: Superman: The Man of Steel.

Nice looking page. I really do hope they make the symbol on his chest a bit bigger and take the one off his belt.

You know, I said the same thing. I don't think they care tho. The red needs to be the proper red and the chest symbol needs to cover his chest properly. Oh well, at least Returns was a superb Superman film, not matter what the people who didn't understand it think

I'm going to enjoy Returns more once I get my PCM copy that's on its way to my open arms. I didn't like the dark red that much at first, and I still think it needs to be a bit brighter, but I think I prefer a little darker red than the one in Donner's films. As I get older, too, i think i prefer the cape without the symbol on the back as well, like in the cartoons and the older comics. Glad they left it off. I'm one for very simple designs.

Whats to understand? You either liked it or you didn't...me personally, I thought the acting was listless and uninspired, the story could have been edited better. Needs better directing and editing on the second go round for it to return to its glory like BATMAN BEGINS. I will, however; agree with the logo issue.

I waited for the blu to see this movie, never saw it in the theater, was a total blind buy. I was pleasantly surprised, this movie had some negative reviews but I totally dug the movie. I thought the new Clark Kent actor nailed the Reeve persona in the movie. Looking forward to the next installment.

I thought the acting was alright... I just found it incredibly boring. I saw it for the first time on HD DVD and I fell asleep SEVERAL times. I don't mind slow pacing... in fact, I find that in the case of comic films, they have a tendency to go too fast... but I just expected a LOT more from what I saw in the trailer.

One of my other issues is that I don't really care for the original films. I grew up on the "post-Crisis" John Byrne-inspired Superman, and I just didn't like some of the "cheesiness" that the original films had. As I grew older, I realized how GREAT Reeves was as Superman and admired Donner's work on the film, but I still have "issues" with how "cheesy" some of it comes off as. Some additional comments:

Clark Kent/Superman: I thought Brandon Routh did fine acting wise... but he still lacked (IMO) the persona that Reeves had. Reeves looked and acted "super", and Routh lacked it. Perhaps he'll find that "extra" something for the sequel. I know that Singer made this film as a sequel to the first two films and I even respect the fact that Routh's "Clark" is more "subdued" than Reeves' Clark, but I still would have preferred a little more assertive Clark.

Lois Lane: I thought Bosworth was fine, I just felt that she could have been portrayed more "feisty" (ala Kidder/Hatcher/Delaney/Durance). I personally felt that was more Singer's fault myself.

Lex Luthor: I've always been a fan of the wealthy industrialist Luther than the "criminal mastermind" as portrayed by Hackman and Spacey, and Hackman played him as more of a comedian than a serious threat in my opinion. Singer gave Spacey (IMO), a more serious threatening Luthor, but still way too over-the-top for me. FANTASTIC casting by the way, I just wish he would have had a more "realistic" Luthor to work with.

Jimmy Olsen: I LOVED Huntington's (Sp?) Jimmy... I would have preferred just a TAD bit more modernized Jimmy... but I still enjoyed his performance.

As for the plot, there was good and there was bad. I respect that they spent a good amount of time on characterization instead of SFX 24x7, but I generally felt (unlike some comic book films) that these were (mostly) the weakest parts. There were some very good "iconic" Superman moments that Singer nailed 100%, but there were parts which just didn't work for me, and I really expected more of Singer (particularly after how good the trailer looked).

I feel like I got everything, I just didn't care for it all.

I originally heard a while ago that General Zod would be back, but you know how rumors are.

I actually liked the first one, my only issues with it being the extended city flying sequences and the lame ass cop out on the American way. If they don't change the actor I'll be interested in the second one. I thought Routh and Spacey were two things that the movie got right, so any change on those fronts would really lessen the appeal of a sequel. Bosworth didn't amaze me or disgust me, and I'm not a real fan of the Olsen character period, whoever plays him.

For the first one I loved the Orbiter sequence, and also the way Spacey really 'beat' Superman on that island.

I heard that they'd ditched those two writers who did the first one. God, I hope so.

An Angry God Theme

"This could be an interesting direction to go - could play off of Superman's line in SUPERMAN RETURNS about hearing the world crying for a savior every day (bad paraphrase, I know). Maybe he gets pissed that we're not doing more for ourselves, or not showing him enough appreciation considering the tremendous sacrifices he has made for us, or something?

All of this assumes, of course, that another SUPERMAN movie is even viable in the wake of recent court rulings in which significant rights to "the Man of Steel" were awarded to the heirs of Superman co-creator Jerome Siegel "

everybody has their own tastes & difference in opinion for what is a slow paced movie

As for superman returns, i find it quite enjoyable, didn't seem to drag as some other movies that seemed to drag to me in recent times a la Superbad
