Default PS3 problem : new blu ray disc won't play

Hello everyone

i am 21 year old student from slovakia and i need help. i've bought PS3 a few months ago. and i am really impressed by it but .. yesterday i've bought my first blu-ray disc - Casino Royale. First time when i put it into PS it was ok. i just watched about 5 minutes of the movie and then turned PS3 off cos i had something more important to do.

After about an hour i came back to my PS3 and turned it on. And my disc won't play. sometimes i't doesn't even show that i have disc inside my ps3. sometimes it recognises that blu ray disc is inside but when i try to play it i get ERROR (some numbers). and the disc just won't play anymore.

I went to the local shop and tried if that disc will be read by other blu ray players and it was played without problems. In that store they also had PS3 with firmware 2.10 and it worked there as well.

But my PS3 won't read that disc.

Firmware that i use is 2.30 - that should be the newest.

Please help me. I don't know what to do. BTW blu ray games are working.

THX for any reply in advance

Man that does seem like a weird problem. My first advise was to tell you firmware update but you already have that and your ps3 reads discs since it can read games. I would try to talk to Sony first before doing anything. You could try System Restore but I would talk to Sony Playstation technical support first

make sure you've tried rebooting the ps3. you could also try the restore option under system settings

By the way, did you make sure that region codings for the movie is from your region or compatible with your PS3?

LMAO ... awsome burn Rusty88

People sometimes dont understand that there are several places in Europe and Asia that are as technologically advanced as many places in the US. There are in fact some places in the deep South that look like your second pic here in the US.

My Slovak language skills are non existent but have you checked out your county's playstation website? http://sk.playstation.com/. Good luck with the repair/exchange. What are the warranty terms like in Slovakia?

ofc we have 2 year warranty. and PS is only 4 months old. so it's in service (or how do you call it?). They told me that they'll fix it in 5 days. All i had to do was pack the PS3 into it's original box with all the acessories and then DHL guy came to my house to deliver it to sony. Sony paid the DHL so i was quite pleased. Hopefully they'll fix it. I'll let you know but i think that they will .

It should be back on friday

With a five day turnaround it sounds like they may just give you a new unit. Glad everything worked out for you.

What is the deal with posts being brought back that are more than 2 years old?
