The WWE, the guys in the porn industry chose HD over BR(I Can Care Less, but it does matter) but if the BR guys can somehow bring in the WWE/wrestling as a whole i personally think it would be HUGE, anyone know if this will happen? i noticed "The Marine" is heading to BR and the is from the WWE Films group(Not sure if its heading to HD)

I don't really know about this one. How many dvds do the WWE sell in a year anyway? The nature of the WWE seems to tell me that they make most of their money with the live shows and pay per view events they hold, rather than home video. People do buy their dvds, but that is probably limited to a very small niche market. It wouldn't hurt if it did come out on blu-ray, but I don't see it having much of an impact on the format war though. Hell, with the internet these days, porn probably doesn't matter all that much either.

o no, the WWE sells ALOT of DVDs everytime a new one comes out it sells many, not so much the Pay Per Views(Excluding Wrestlemania) but the DVD sets that concentrate on one superstar(IE Hogan/Stone Cold) sell a ton i currently own over 20 and everytime a new one comes out they are always getting sold out the first week. and since im a huge fan of Wrestling i would probably buy all the Current DVDs i have on Blu Ray
+ it would of course be in Hi Def with things u couldnt do on regular DVDs ![]() |

Neither Blu-Ray nor HD-DVD needs porn. Porn won't be the deciding factor this time around like it was back in the VHS days. Back then, the internet wasn't around. These days most people get their porn from the internet, so Porn will only have a small impact on the HD disc war. It all boils down to who the studios support and who the consumers purchase.

Porn companies have not gone off hand in hand with HD-DVD into the sunset. We are back to the FUD. Sony can not tell anyone what can or can't be put on BD. That's the job of the BDA (of which Sony has some influence, unless the BDA has signed that power over - I don't think Fox or Disney would have agreed to that). Just like Microsoft can't tell LG they can't make a HD-DVD player without iHD, the HD-DVD forum can (well might pending on clauses). Microsoft is free to take legal action if any copyright has been broken or IP tampered with (that they own or control).
A number of the big porn companies announced support for Blu-ray around the time of Disney and Fox. Look for previous threads here if you doubt it. If you read enough reports some Porn companies are unhappy they can't get at a pressing plant until 2008. Why - because they are booked out. I guess they could always bump Casino Royale, for Debbie does Royale or something else. I think what is not said says more about the sate of the two formats than what is said as the logical conclusion is either a few porn titles are more important than another movie/s (so it will be bumped) or there is pressing capacity in the HD-DVD land. Before the fanboys get excited and point out that HD-DVD's are the same as DVD's so the same plant can be used - not quite. The mastering is totally different and I mean the creation of the stamper (not converting of the movie into MPEG4 instead of MPEG2). The cases are a different size - remember these plants are highly automated and robots are stupid and have customised accessories, so either the robots have to moved out and humans put in if you could fit enough in, or the robots changed and reprogrammed, so the start and the end are different, don't know about the middle. If Universal had really wanted to cause mischief, wait until the end of the CES and announce they want to release 20 titles on Blu-ray this year, then watch the fun between Disney, Fox and Sony, who is going to bump what to make room, as politically they would have to make room. |

The porn industry didn't choose HD DVD OVER Blu-ray. Remember, Blu-ray said no to porn (in the US) and forced them to the HD DVD side.
As long as Blu-ray sticks to their release schedule or increase it, this should be a non-issue. |

You would rather watch grown sweaty men fake fight instead of watching porn?

someone else posted this in another thread, The head at vivid video says that vivid is releasing a remake of debbie does dallas in march or april in the U.S. so just so we can put this to bed, it isn't Sony OR the BDA who are saying no to porn, the problem is the replicators.
