Default Issues with HDMI & Component connections

Hello,

My friends son is having some problems with PS3 when moving it from one TV to another.. One TV the PS3 is connected by the HDMI that works just fine but when he disconnects it from the HD TV with HDMI to his TV in his bedroom that's not HD, just some regular TV with component the PS3 doesn't work. All he gets is a black screen. Any reason why this is happening?

Thanks

It's still setup to run HDMI as video. If taking it to a tv that doesn't have HDMI, he will need to reset the system, or make the video changes prior to unplugging. When in standby mode, hold the power button for a few seconds and the PS3 will reset everything. Then when he plugs it in, it will show up on the screen. It'll have to be tweaked every time he moves it.

Another option is to go component video out on both tv's.... but the resolution would still have to be adjusted for proper viewing on a non 1080 tv.

he has to reset the A/V settings.

While the PS3 is in standby (red light), press and hold the power button until it beeps twice. This should reset it.

I have the same PS3 issue when moving it from an HDMI set to another having only analogue component. To solve the problem, I have both HDMI and component cables hooked up to my digital TV. When I need to move it to an analogue set, I switch to component, CK the analogue picture, and I know I am set to go. I know I will have a picture when I bring it back to the 1st set before I switch it to HDMI again.

Dude thank's for posting that...i thought i was losing my mind or something. I had to unplug my Cable Modem and move it to the living room to do the lastest update with my PS3 connected via HDMI.

The quality was better most likely because EA did a poor port of the game to PS3 last year, not because the 360 upscales all games to 1080p instead of your tv.

Shin-Ra,
Aren't most games actually authored in 720? I think I remember reading somewhere that the 1080 resolution X-box and subsequently PS3 games have listed on the back are upscaled resolutions, not native. Am I recalling this correctly? It's been awhile.
Thanks

Most games are rendered at 720p or less on both systems, yes.
