Default Help with HDMI cable...

I am using a Monoprice HDMI 1.3 24 AWG cable from my PS3 to Onkyo 605. The picture keeps cutting out due to signal loss. When I go back and jiggle the cable a bit, the picture comes back. This happens a lot. I think it is mainly because the gauge is so thick and heavy. However, there is a lot of "play" at the connection, making it seem like it is not secure. Can anyone recommend a good HDMI cable that locks on securely?

Try connecting HDMI from PS3 straight to T.V. and try to figure out if it's the Onkyo, PS3, or T.V.'s issue..... I'm guessing it's the input/output, and not the cable itself.

What do you do if it is the input/output?

Blue Jeans Cable is another good outfit. I've used both BJC and Monoprice in the past, and both have been excellent places for your HDMI and cable needs.

Do not the jiggle the HDMI cable while the equipment are working. This practice could permanently damage your equipment. Switch off all the equipment and plug the cables and use heavy duty duct tape to secure all cable in place. And then switch on all equipment.

The HDMI connector is flimsy. This is a HDMI design problem.

Default HDMI Cable fit

As an installer, I have seen this quite a bit. How long of a cable are you using? If you are going a short distance 3 or 6 feet, you might look at something not as heavy-duty.

I will commonly use a cable like this: Click Here
It is a medium duty cable with a nice over-mold, but the overmold does not protrude to far to the outside of the connector.

I have used very heavy duty cables like you mention and not only does it add extra weight to the whole assembly and more pressure on the HDMI connector/strain relief, but in some situations, a heavy duty "monster style" cable will have a molded end that is too large to plug a cable into the next input over on your component.

You might also consider a Male/Female swivel adapter or a short 8" Male/Female Port-Saver Cable

i would recommend Monster cables. If you go to their site they have a break down and comparison on which HDMI would be right for you...

Big debate that all cables are the same here on this forum, that you will not see or hear any difference. I don't doubt that and don't want to discuss this debate. But some brands of cables do fit more snug than others. I've had the same issues with some cheaper priced brands.
