Info on your set-up would sure help,
but heres a guess

On an Onkyo you need to set the video out
you go to the set-up menu, read the selections from the front screen
on the amp and tell it to output to HDMI.. then wa la !!
I am sure whatever you are using is close

you may also have settings in the player and you may have some in the TV

More info will get you better answers

Ok when we ask for inof we are asking if you are running your bd player straight to your tv? if so change the settings on your bd player to output video thru hdmi....if you are running your bd player thru a receiver, make sure both your receiver is set to output thru hdmi....

EDIT: Also on tv, when you are doing component(dvd,vcr,games..etc.) make sure it knows its to receive a video signal thru hdmi....

try using the supplied composit cable AND hdmi. then view the player menu and make sure the player is set to hdmi. you have to tell components nowdays what you want them to do like a computer.
also make sure your on the correct input on your tv.

are you using a receiver?

...just a thought...

go to the Bluray player settings and turn off 24p (pg.45 in user manual)

...if your sharp aquos is not 24fps compatible, could be the reason you're not seeing the image...it does that with my PS3 too. Just an idea.
