805 hands down for a difference of 80 bucks.

I've got an 805 and I haven't had any problems with it. It's an a/v powerhouse.

Have you looked into the new 606? I'm in the same boat and looking at the 606, 705, and 805. I have ruled out the 705 because the price difference isn't enough to sway me that way. It would be nice to have 4 HDMI in's with the 606, but you seem to loose a lot of other features.

If space is not an issue, I would select the 805 hands down. But, be advised that the 805 is MUCH larger, especially in depth but also in height, as well as much heavier than the 606/705. So, if you have limitations there, make sure you know what you have coming before you order it.

Which is exactly why I opted for the 705 and applied the price difference towards speakers. Even if it were the same price, I don't have room for that beast. I wish I did but I don't.

I'm very happy with my 705, though I wish the manual for it were available in English.

I would suggest that the Burr-Brown D/A converters and the headroom would be the most compelling offerings.

The Amplifier section is a definite upgrade from the 705 which accounts for its weight. This is the same amplifier that is used in their top end recievers such as the 905.

one thing to keep in mind is weight the 805 weighs 51 lbs. where as the 705 weighs 28 lbs. if your putting the 805 on a glass shelf it may not work out well. plus it makes it harder to get behind if you have to turn it. just my 2 cents.

805 needs more breathing room vs 705, if u get the 805, make sure you have good air circulation or big enough cabinetry

You should be able to get a manual for your 705 online - try www.onkyo.co.uk or www.onkyo.com:)
