Ok, for a non-gamer such as myself, what other perks does the PS3 offer me in addition to the Blu-ray? Try as I might, I cannot find this info on the PS3 website.
I have internet via satellite in my home. If I download, say a Frontline episode, can I watch it on my TV? Thanks in advance for the help. |

Thanks so much.
I also found this helful link for anyone else interested. http://www.pakgamers.com/forums/sony...uying-faq.html If I can surf the internet, this should mean that I can watch videos that are played online, is that right? Like documentaries fron Netflix that are able to be viewed instantly online? |

Browsing the net via PS3 controller is painful and slow. Unless you have a Bluetooth or USB keyboard its not worth it.
Youtube works because Sony added support for it. Most sites use Flash these days and the PS3 version is about 3 versions behind the standard used today. Therefore you can't do much except browse websites which don't use flash. You could stream stuff from your PC to your PS3 using Tversity no problem. There are many threads on this subject already for me to go into it again. Basically, anything thats on your PC Hard drive like pics, music and video can be streamed (or copied) to your PS3. If using Tversity most video types are transcoded into MPEG4 on the fly but you need a fast PC to do this to keep up with the video in realtime. You can chat to your buddies on a PS3 via bluetooth headset and webcam. If you have a PSP you can access your PS3 files anywhere in the world. If you stream from your PC, you can access anything on that as well. Obviously your PC needs to be on to do this. The PS3 can be remotely switched on from any wireless access point in the world. Just about any video can be converted to play on PS3. 95% of the stuff I have is compatible. PS3 runs so hot you could save on your heating bill a bit. Ps3 is customizable, add a bigger HDD any time for more content. Erm, there are lots of really cheap games on the PSN store to buy, so if kids come round, youve got yourself a little entertainment center so you can go off and have a drink of wine in peace for 15 mins. Thats about it for now. |

I have tried watching You Tube on PS3, and the videos always look choppy and aren't very crisp at all. It may be due to the connection, but its always strong.
So, while you CAN watch You Tube with the PS3, IMO its not exactly worth the hassle of the tedious navigation (as others have mentioned). |

![]() Although I did find it quite annoying every time I loaded a page on youtube the PS3 would keep asking me if I would like to run the flash? ![]() |
