Default What's better, Blu-ray.com or HDD for reviews?

I have been toggling back and forth to both site for reviews. I enjoy both, but sometimes one conflicts the other and i'm not sure which to trust especially when it comes to PQ and AQ. Just curious what's the rest of you think is the best with the most depth and honest reviews. Unless there's another site you think is THE one to go to.

Have to agree... I usually don't always agree with HDD's reviews, whereas Blu-ray.com's I haven't thought much different than the reviewers on any title.

This very biased, i dont know about hdd as I dont go there, not even sure if i have an account there without looking.

This question is like asking a coke drinker while consuming a coke whether he perfers pepsi or coke?

I frequent both sites, and I feel that the reviews here are definitely better. Sometimes they vary drastically when it comes to video quality, which is to be expected. From personal experience buying the titles both sites have reviewed, I'd say Blu-Ray.com is more accurate when it comes to expressing how good or bad the video quality is.

Some of the reviewers at HDD strike me as "snobbish."

I like to compare reviews from this site, HDD, AVS, and DVD Talk. It is nice to get different perspectives. I really like Ralph Potts reviews at AVS. I have found him to be spot on so far for me.

just pick a bunch of your favorites and compare your review with the sites and go with the one that matches your taste more closely.

Yeah, whether I agree or disagree at times with their reviews, the "snobbish" tone that is prevalent much of the time is almost unbearable.

In general though, I like reading as many reviews as I can find but personally, I don't really use them for purchasing decisions. I just like to read them and like to see what they say about the PQ/SQ. Of course, use them for reference also even if I don't always agree.

I use both for reference. Usually they are pretty in line with each other as far as the PQ and AQ go. The actual movie rating is of course understandably based on personal preference. But if the two reviews are far off from each other then I go with the Blu-ray.com review. Some of the bad PQ rated discs reviewed at HDD were not as bad as they made out to be.

Blu-ray.com has the quality and we could have more quantity...How bout having Deci play a larger role in the reviewing of films?!

Wow, alot of quick replies. I also check dvdtalk also since i am a member there. One thing i find myself doing is for example, I recently bought Die Hard and i am fully aware of the so-so video quality before i even bought it. But i find myself checking different reviews that would give me the most positive response of the video quality to make myself feel better even though i know from the other majority reviews that it's not to be. lol That can only take you so far though. You can't fool the eyes lol

Also, too bad Amazon doesnt seperate user reviews from dvd and blu-rays. They just combine it all together.

Are you serious? The user reviews on this site are the absolute worst thing. The reviewer may give a movie around a 3.5 for video but then someone will come along and give it 5/5 because they are a huge fan of the movie. It doesn't happen all the time but when it does it makes me laugh.

As for comparing the site I used to consider HDD the benchmark for reviews and news but lately they have been slipping a bit. Blu-ray.com has reviews for movies they haven't reviewed yet while they just posted a review of the Rambo Box Set which was completely unnecessary when all 3 movies have already been reviewed. Also Blu-ray.com started posted the 720p screenshots of movies which I really like. It's a good way to see video quality and I look forward to clicking them on every review. Blu-ray.com has also beat HDD on news postings recently which I've noticed clearly. HDD just posted the official news about Transformers and didn't even mention it having an uncompressed PCM soundtrack. Not good.

All in all I think both sites are good but Blu-ray.com has been impressing me more lately.

I use both sites to determine my purchases but overall I would say that I slightly agree more the reviews at HDD than here.
