Default Field Of Dreams

Has anyone heard if Field of Dreams is going to be released in Blu-Ray format any time soon?

No, it hasn't. But just check this site periodically and go to the Movies - Coming Soon link. This site is very good about adding movies to that listing the minute they are officially announced (i.e. The Lost Boys).

Its one my all time favorite sports movies and would like to see it on blu-ray. Its from Universal, so who knows when we'll get it.

Get in line--I'm still waiting for Warner to stop blaming the proletariat for their "bad HD sales", and finally start wondering whether Casablanca, Excalibur and Willy Wonka might sell better in Blu...

The good news is that it was released on HD-DVD, so you would have to imagine it will be one of their earlier catalog titles to come out...

The fact that it was released on HD is definitely a good thing. They've got the HD Master...just need to throw it onto blu-ray. Same goes for Casino...ah I want that movie! FOD is the best sports movie ever made.

James Earl Jones: "If they build it, they will come and buy it on Blu Ray! They will come to Circuit City for reasons they can't even fathom, arriving at the door, as innocent as children - and they will pass over the money without even thinking about it, for it is money they have and peace they like.... Oh people will come... When they watch the movie, it will be as if they dipped themselves in magic waters."

OK so i modified to script a little....

I was at Best Buy yesterday here in Seattle, and they had a Blu-Ray demo playing on some televisions (the demos I am sure everyone has seen where they are promoting the HD quality, etc). On it, they showed a scene from "Field of Dreams" and had the Blu-Ray logo at the bottom right. It was during the opening corn field scene, so I have to assume the film is due out soon on Blu. It is my favorite film of all time, so I am looking forward to it more than anyone.

I liked it but a little less than I expected. Probably because Barney spoke of it so highly.

Mine, too. This, and an old, early 50's B&W fllm, NO HIGHWAY IN THE SKY (that has never been on Laser Disc or DVD), starring Jimmy Stewart, Glynnis Johns, and Marlene Dietrich, are my two favorite films of all time.

Great quote modification (that speech always thrills me)...

BTW, Chevypower (noticing your avatar), do you know why they are rereleasing all three BACK TO THE FUTURE movies in a couple of months on DVD and NOT releasing them day and date with Blu-ray versions? Seems really curious to me. I noticed that on amazon.com's list of new releaes a couple of weeks ago and felt terribly teased by the prospect....

Let's hope that when it does come out, they will have made it look much better.

THe only movie my dad has asked about coming out on blu. One of my favorites and one of the few movies I can watch with my dad and know he's enjoying as much as I am. And I find that fitting

FWIW I saw a Blu-ray demo loop at the local Best Buy's today. The loop had scenes from Field Of Dreams and Seabiscuit with both titles listed as "Coming Soon". Not sure what soon means in this case.

The " Hey Dad, Do you want to have a catch" scene always gets me. I think it gets a lot of men who have lost their dad.

Is that the movie where he (Jimmy Stewart) is convinced that an airplane is defective and he keeps trying to prove it???
