Yeah, movies always get released on Tuesdays. I don't doubt that its coming, but not on that day anyways. I think Universal has said that they will be released all movies after July Day-and Date with the DVD.

I'm betting the 40 Year Old Virgin and Knocked Up will release the same day as FSM.

The street dates are forthcoming and cannot be disclosed right now, but Universal Studios should be announcing these titles formally soon for BD.

Baby Mama
Heroes: Season 1
Heroes: Season 2
Leatherheads
The Scorpion King 2: Rise of a Warrior

The 2 bolded releases were previously announced for August 26 in the official Universal press release. Has this changed?

Nope still 8/26, and I think Uni forgot they announced them. The information requests not to reveal street date for these just yet.

Different type of announcement if I understand him right.

Universal's press release also announced several other titles ("The Mummy" movies, "The Scorpion King", and "Doomsday"), but each got their own announcement later (usually with more details like extras, pricing, etc...)

Yeah, but I don't buy DVDs anymore. Guess I'll have to see if I know anybody I can borrow it from to watch... until I can get it on Blu-ray.

I was REALLY hoping Universal was serious about:

I think 'Miss" may not sell well enough to justify a release. Just like when Fox skipped over releasing The Seeker: The Dark is Rising on BD despite it being a new D&D title I assume that's why they skipped it and it was a good movie too.

Gotcha. Sounds like (as Alan said) they're planning separate press releases with specs and extras. I just hope they keep up the DTS-HD:MA love instead of going the Warner route and use vanilla DD.

I understand, and I felt it was a longshot anyway (given that Universal's one of the low men on the totem pole), and MPLFAD isn't exactly aimed at the PS3 demographic, but I really was hoping that Universal would indeed give ALL NEW home video releases a Blu-ray version (with maybe the exception of TV releases).

As for other studios, I'm used to sometimes getting the shaft in regards to new releases ("Married Life" by Sony is another upcoming title I'm disappointed to see no BD release for...), but they haven't made the same statements Universal did.
