Default Why will "Batman Begins" not have the picture in picture feature?

Now that Blu ray can play that feature it also seems it won't even have the features from the 2 disc set

It does have it, you're looking at an ad sheet talking about all the junk in the gift set

In all honesty, though, I think PiP is a dumb feature anyway, and aside from using it once (on 'War') to see what all the hubbub was about, I've never actually felt like using it.

Specs and Extras for Batman Begins Revealed
Posted April 8, 2008 04:21 PM by Josh

Warner Home Video has revealed the specs and special features for the upcoming Blu-ray release of 'Batman Begins', which is scheduled to be released on July 8th. The release will come in two flavors: either as a standard Blu-ray or a limited edition Blu-ray gift set. Video will be presented as 1080p VC-1, and audio will come via a 5.1 Dolby TrueHD track.

Extras include 12 featurettes (including: "Genesis of the Bat", "Batman: The Journey Begins", "Path to Discovery", "Saving Gotham City", "Shaping Mind and Body", "Gotham City Rises", "Cape and Cowl", "Batman: The Tumbler"), the "Tankman Begins" MTV spoof, "Confidential Files" (text and images), and theatrical trailers.

Additionally, this release will feature an "In Movie Experience" (IME) PIP commentary track. This BonusView feature will only work on BonusView Blu-ray players, which includes the Sony PlayStation 3 and Panasonic DMP-BD30.

Exclusive to the Blu-ray release will be the complete six-minute prologue from upcoming theatrical release of 'The Dark Knight', which is set to hit theaters on July 18th.

As previously reported, the limited edition gift set will include a Batman Begins motion art lenticular, script pages, exclusive photos, storyboards, five collectible Batman Begins postcards, and $7.50 in movie cash toward a Dark Knight ticket.

Why would you want a picture with the directors mug taking up movie screen real estate while he yammers on about his directorial decision making scenarios whilst Batman freakin Begins is going on in the compromised foreground.
I am confused.

I guess you don't know what picture in picture feature is. And you are saying that because you don't own a PS3 i guess.
And It so much more then seeing the director and cast there is also extensive making of and behind the scenes stuff through out the movie. But to watch it you have to own a PS3 and another player caries it also i think

PIP support is in no way exclusive to just the PS3 or "another player" . . . there are a lot of players now that support PIP.

PiP is more than just a director or actor talking in a window. On 300, it featured an amazing, revolutionary indepth bluescreen pre-CGI version of the film. It was amazing to watch 300 and see the bluescreen, simply awesome. HP, Bourne also had some amazing and engaging PiP. Batman Begins shows lots of footage, content, movie secrets, etc. It is a very different experience than watching the footage seperately, there's nothing like watching it while the movie is playing to compare and see it unfold.

I'm shocked that some just don't want to give PiP a chance, or now hate it based on a bad lackluster PiP experience with another film. As with everything, it depends upon the release. I can't wait for 300 Deluxe Edition with BonusView on BD, so people can experience how amazing PiP can be. Also Beowulf and Transformer's PiP was simply amazing.

I found these screens of 300 Bluescreen PiP online:

All special features should be thrown away. Use the space for video and audio quality. Sony saw the light with their SuperBit discs. Movie lovers only want the movie.

With 50GB, there is enough. Besides SuperBit wasn't all that successful, with a very limited library and lackluster sales.

Quote:
Retailers are supportive of the disappearing Superbit, believing that the line never became a mainstream consumer favorite. Sources indicate that at its peak several years ago, Superbit releases typically sold 2% of the amount of the title’s regular DVD version. Sony's last release was in 2005.
Sony did see the light, 2% is a very lackluster portion of sales. I guess consumers didn't care about the improved sound/video quality. Thus Superbit never achieved mainstream acceptance.

No. A lot of us movie lovers want insight into how the movie was made. Just don't watch them.

Superbit wasn't successful because nobody knew what it was.

No, not really. There are plenty of people on this forum that don't care for special feautres. It's not so absurd. I only care about the quality of the movie, not about how it got made.

Yeah an executive producer stated that a PiP edition of 300 was coming, sometime last fall/summer.

And their opinion is the same as yours. Not one I agree with. Bring on the extras!

While not everyone may like or watch extras. They do attract buyers.

Agreed. I'll buy the 2 Disc Special Edition just because it's a "special edition". I never touch the second disc though.

Yep bring on the extras there is plenty of room for it on a Blu ray and you get more for your money

Not the only one by any means.
I have a PS3 and watched many of the special features on my dvds and blu-rays when my cable went out due to inclement weather. I found nothing special about any of the extras.
I take that back, I did enjoy the Matrix spoof from the intro to the MTV movie awards from the year that movie came out. It was actually a hidden extra feature that you had to get by moving the cursor to a little almost imperceptible square that lit up when you clicked in a direction that had no obvious choices. I would've never known it was there had a friend of mine not told me about it.
I would rather pay less and have just a one disc version of the movie tweaked to its fullest potential in terms of visual and audio quality and put on the smallest, least expensive disc possible.
I don't desire to know the secrets behind movie making because then it loses its mystery and just like with relationships once the mystery and magic are gone so is the love.
So endeth the rant. Reset Nintendo.
