Default Bestbuy Canada and Futureshop on top of BD!!

I have noticed for the past few weeks that Bestbuy and Futureshop have been advertising exclusively BD in their flyers as of late. This in my opinion shows the growing sales in Canada for BD.

How is it there stateside? Does CC and BB tend to be neutral?

Hey Blu... I noticed in the Star today that Futureshop has AVP a few bucks less than BB but BB usually has some other titles cheaper. Weird since it's the same damn company.

yeah i know, The prices vary, between store. I would always look at both stores, usally in some places there right next to each other. The other day I saw "Accepted" for HD-DVD for 50.99 (Canadian, of course) What the F%#K, I though HD-DVD were suppost to be cheaper.

What is kinda cool though, is that you can go into Sams, HMV, WBB and BB all within 2 blocks of each other and check prices. Usually HMV and Sams are the most expensive but Crank on the other hand was the same in BB as it was in HMV the other day. Man, you can never tell.

They'll beat other prices too by 10% of the difference. So if BB has one cheaper than FS, you'll then get it cheaper again at FS by at least a few cents.
FS - $29.99
BB - $26.99

FS will have to sell for $26.69

I went to FS last night and the BD section was pretty damn empty, with only The Guardian as a new release having several copies. I mean the section was bare. HD DVD was chock full and ha dlots of the big titles too like KK and V4V.

I tend to find that it's really a toss-up between FS and BB

BB - The Guardian -$29.99 FS Carries it for $26.99
BB - AVP - $32.99 FS - $29.99

In fact all of the new Fox titles are $32.99 at BB whereas FS is advertising at $29.99.

Better F'd up considering they are the same company

I found Total Recall for 21.99 at my Best Buy. It seems they sell most of their Blu Rays cheaper than Future Shop. When I bought AVP on Tuesday I just went to Future Shop and it was $32.99 . It might have been a bit less at BB but I just didn't feel like running around. Walmart is right across the road from Best Buy and they had alot more titles than BB as their shelves were picked pretty clean. They had a slew of HD DVD titles. To me that says not selling. Anyways,Walmarts prices are comparable to BB. Got Swordfish and Under Seige for $23 each and BB had neither.

Total Recall and Stargate are both $21.99 at BB.

Anyone else notice three Blu-ray titles popping up in the New Release section as well? Total Recall, Stargate and The Covenant are all in the New Release section at my local BB, with no HD DVD titles in sight.

Default Same Company - Smart Strategy

Even though BB and FS are the same company, I think it is wise for them to sell an identical item at different prices so that they can squeeze out more profit.

For example, if a BB dvd is selling a movie for $25, and FS sells it for $24, then a BB sale earns them $1 more profit than an FS sale. They are banking that the average consumer will not print off or bring in the FS advertisement that has it selling for $24 to only save $1.10.

So in the long run, the company as a whole wins....and for smart shoppers, they should bring in the ads to get the cheapest possible price.

Anyone else notice in the new Futureshop flyer that Commando is listed ($29.99)...so is it actually released or coming out this week?

Thought it was listed somewhere that this was a May release.

Well the Futureshop.ca website shows 'Commando' with a release date of Dec 30/07. That seems a little far-fetched eh?
