I have an old sony rptv as the main display in my living room, its standard def (ick) and the color is starting to go on it... i got the TV second-hand from a friend a while back and have been saving some money to buy a plasma since we got it, as it was supposed to be a temporary solution, but it's my mom's living room, and she said she's not letting me "waste" my money on a tv for her house when I won't be taking it with me when i move out in a few months... so rather than leave her with her crappy SDTV with bleeding colors and whites that bleed across the whole screen, I'm looking for a way to wreck the TV without being obvious so i have an excuse to buy her a new one
any suggestions? lol |

the only issue with that is finding the tools to open it up lol... it uses non-standard screw heads and the plastic back cover is already cracked, so if i go tearing it off it it might crack worse, making my crime evident

So it's your TV, the TV you're going to get will be yours, and you won't be able to take it with you when you move? Weak. If my mom did that, I'd be all like, "Hey! Get in the kitchen and knit me a sweater!"
But seriously, why not get a decent but cheap LCD or something. You would have something good to watch for a while, it would free up a little more money for the surround sound, wouldn't take too long to save back up, and you'll have a decent TV to watch when you come to visit. |

If you had enough money to do all that, you wouldn't be living at home with your mom. |
