Default RPTV Destruction?

I have an old sony rptv as the main display in my living room, its standard def (ick) and the color is starting to go on it... i got the TV second-hand from a friend a while back and have been saving some money to buy a plasma since we got it, as it was supposed to be a temporary solution, but it's my mom's living room, and she said she's not letting me "waste" my money on a tv for her house when I won't be taking it with me when i move out in a few months... so rather than leave her with her crappy SDTV with bleeding colors and whites that bleed across the whole screen, I'm looking for a way to wreck the TV without being obvious so i have an excuse to buy her a new one

any suggestions? lol

coca cola down the back circuitry should do the trick. But I would not attempt with the power on.

the only issue with that is finding the tools to open it up lol... it uses non-standard screw heads and the plastic back cover is already cracked, so if i go tearing it off it it might crack worse, making my crime evident

Dude that's your MOM don't play dirty. Just buy it and set it up while she's gone and demo it for her. What if you end up setting the house on fire?

Don't forget to tell her you love her.

So it's your TV, the TV you're going to get will be yours, and you won't be able to take it with you when you move? Weak. If my mom did that, I'd be all like, "Hey! Get in the kitchen and knit me a sweater!"
But seriously, why not get a decent but cheap LCD or something. You would have something good to watch for a while, it would free up a little more money for the surround sound, wouldn't take too long to save back up, and you'll have a decent TV to watch when you come to visit.

Your mom is right.

If you had enough money to do all that, you wouldn't be living at home with your mom.

Not if he's saving up to move out. Having a decent entertainment center ready to go could alleviate the trauma of living on one's own.

I have enough money to move out, I'm just waiting for a friend or two to be ready to do the same so I can have room mates that I know instead of random welfare cases...

and its not thats I CANT take the TV when I go, I'm not going to because my friend who i'm waiting for has a projector and screen, I'll take the TV if i move out alone
