Default Logitech Harmony 890 Remote

Bought this remote on Friday and used it over the weekend...

So far I LOVE IT!

It controls my LG BH200, LG 37 LCD, Denon AV and SA HD Cable box!

Anyone else using this remote?

I currently do not have this remote as I am currently waiting for a Universal remote that powers on my PS3.

Easy to set up for someone who is computer savy, a little tough if your not.

Harmony remotes won't control a ps3??? I was about to begin looking for one to control my samsung LN-T4071F, Onkyo 606, PS3, and dish network hd box. Can any of the harmony's handle all of this?

I am positive that the Harmony controls a PS3...there is a site to determine compatibility:

It definately can control the PS3, but as I stated in my post that it will not power on the PS3. Sure there are numerous work arounds for this such as manually powering it on yourself first, but to me that is partially defeating the purpose of a Universal remote.

I was deciding between the 890 and the Harmony one, but the remote that came with me 94thx is pretty universal. I bought the 10 dollar Nyko IR remote last week that was in the Hot deals forum. So it can now control my PS3. The Logitech 1000 looks really cool, but I thinks its best to wait for a Universal remote that supports bluetooth.

Does it turn the PS3 on and off?

Hey existing Harmony users: what makes these remotes so great? Are there big advantages Harmony has over cheaper kinds?

The main reason I bought the 890 is for the RF receiver. I believe the 890 is the only one with the RF included. My components are in a cabinet so this was a plus.

There is no Universal remote available yet that can power a PS3 on and off. If one is released, it will more than likely be produced by Sony as from what I hear, its the 'PS' button that is that factor in which powers the system.

I can't speak for everyone else, but I love them. I had an old one, and just "upgraded" to the Harmony One. It took about 10 minutes on the computer to set it up, with specific pauses between steps, and a few other tweaks. This controls my DTV HD DVR, TV, Denon Receiver, Denon DVD, and whatever else I throw at it. (minus the PS3 power options of course). Also, I don't have an HDMI receiver, so when I change sources, I need to have my TV change the Input. When I hit Watch TV, it powers on everything I need, and sets it to the correct inputs. It can also turn everything else not in use, off.

The setup is easy as pie, and works very well. On the one, you can change the labels of the "buttons" on screen. For example, I have the labels "Watch TV", "PlayStation3", "Wii with TV", and "Wii with Receiver" . When I do wii with receiver, it tunes the HD DVR to the XM Music channel, the AV receiver on, and we are set. The Harmony One is also rechargeable, and fits on the charging cradle well.

Just a side note, my wife signed up to be a "Buzz Agent", so they send her free products to try and spread the word. The harmony one was one of those, so we got it free. I think we have 20% of logitech coupons if anyone is interested. let me check, and I can mail them to anyone interested.

Not sure I understand why everyone is stating a Harmony remote will control a PS3 without also stating that in order for this to work, you will need an IR dongle (I believe that is what they are called) or have the Blu-Wave remote (with USB IR reciever) installed on your PS3. The PS3 is controlled by bluetooth, and the Harmony remotes are IR (or RF), which are not compatable.

Is there something different with the 890 that I am not aware of?

I have a 670 controlling all of my equipment, and it does control my PS3 after I purchased the Blu-Wave remote (though will not power on/off the unit). I've been considering upgrading to the 890 for the better LCD screen and more logical button placement.

Are these coupons only valid at certain retailers or are they universially accepted? Is that coupon valid on all remotes too or certain models Thanks.

Another question I have is for anyone who would like to answer. Are all functions covered by Harmony remotes or is it just the basic functions?

Thanks
