Default Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution

Man this demo is addicting, at first I didn't really know what I was doing and was confused, but now I'm getting the hang of it and thoroughly enjoying it. The controls are simplified over the PC's Civilization counterpart, which can be both good and bad.

If you liked other strategy games such as advance wars or field commander or liked board strategy games like Risk, this is definitely worth checking out. I'll definitely be buying this.

I love Civ III and IV, I could play them for hours on end.

I was quite surprised by it. Ran out of turns and wanted to carry on, I had a global victory and had armies placed all over the place, great how you can merge three lots of warriers into a mini army.... great stuff!!!

I've always loved the Civ stuff..

I really liked how they simplified it for the masses in the demo. Made it a lot more fast paced feeling. Was fun trying to beat the AI before the demo ran out!

I went back and played Civ IV Warlords after the demo to see the difference...

They aren't even the same game at all really. Same concept. Completely different gameplay. Civ IV is SO MUCH more complex. It's like in the CivRev demo they just put everything in Civ IV on 'Automation' and removed all the controls for it.

I was happy to see they put caravans back in CivRev though... I miss caravans in Civ.

I wish this game was only < $40 though... Hard to pay $60 when it actually offers a lot less than CivIV on my PC.

Well you know, just wait for a price drop that should come after Christmas or so....or be on the lookout for some good deals on Amazon and Target.

I'm hoping this sells well, it could open the door for a lot more strategy games on consoles, including Civ V (with hopefully KB+M support).

When is CivV though? They just announced Civ IV: Colonization (a cheap trick to sell Colonization I think) and the Sword expansion was just late last year, right?

If there is a V soon, I hope they really up the graphics. Even Civ IV has kinda meh graphics still.

I've found Civilization Revolution to heavily remind me of Civilization I, it doesn't have all the bloat that the later games seem to have picked up. It's fast paced, highly addictive, easy, yet challenging all at the same time. The demo is driving me nuts though because you get some cool stuff, and get like 2 turns to use it. I had fighter planes for all of 3 turns once, was close to having the manhattan project once and wanted my nukes!

I'm also tired of how it's the same map every time, I wish they would have done 2 or 3 different maps, but I understand it's just a demo. I just can't wait til the game comes out that so I can slaughter those pesky other nations!

How the hell did you get that far in the demo?

I get like 50 turns MAYBE.... lol I can go and conquer the aztecs and maybe one other place and explore around a bit and then my demo is done.

It still stops at 1250, but it's all about how you do technology, I got SUPER lucky getting the manhattan project, I did some wonder where you get a technology, and bam, ended up with the manhattan project wonder, and was almost done building it.

The fighters, you have to be the first with flight with another wonder built, and you get a free set of fighters.

Great Demo! I spent over an hour playing this demo. My wife went apeshit because she missed Canadian Idol and our PVR didn't record it. I had to add timeshifting so that I can record it for her later. Man this Demo is addictive. She is snarling at me as I type. Lol! Gotta love her!

I downloaded the demo and have yet to play it. Is it hard to get into at first? I've never played the other Civ games before.

Play on the chieftan version, it gives you hints as you go through the game, it's very easy to get into! It will take a few play throughs to find a play style that fits you. I personally like to build out really quick and get a lot of cities, and then pump my technology. Others build up their armies and conquer cities. There's a lot of different ways to win the game, which is cool about it!
