Default Samsung HDTV

Hey i am thinking about buying a Samsung 40" 1080p Flat-Panel LCD HDTV and i was wondering if this is a good TV to watch Blu-Ray Movies on. I am going to hook up my ps3 with an HDMI cord to this TV to watch the Blu-Ray movies.

Sweet Thanks Guys. It's nice to have some positive feedback before i go spend over 1000 dollars haha. Hey i was wondering does it matter what brand/kind of HDMI cable you use to hook up your Ps3 to you HDTV ?! The one i have now is only a 3 foot HDMI Cable.

Make sure you get a HDMI cable with 24 K gold. I recommend Phillips brand. I bought mine from WalMart. By the way, I have Samsung BluRay and 40" LCD and I love them. WalMart has a 42" Samsung Bluray for around 900.

I personally think you should go no less then Monster cables, would recommend Monster Cable 1000HD Ultra High-Speed HDMI Cable. It has the best bandwidth and will give you the sharpest picture. I have seen the difference between it and the cheaper cables and it is noticeable. Also, the tv selection was good Samsung is the best bang for your buck. Samsung makes the Sony televisions so it's not much difference except the glare is a little less on the Sony but besides that no difference. I would highly recommend going with the 120Hz also especially if you like to watch sports and it makes a big difference on action movies to.

Gold, Silver and Copper are all very resistant to corrosion. Conductivity wise, Silver is the best with a resistance of 1.59 ohms. Copper is the second best at 1.72 ohms and Gold is the third best at 2.35 ohms. In Electronics, we always match connections with similar metals. Dis-similar metals create a very small milli-amp current that is unwanted. This TV comes with Silver Tipped HDMI connections (I Think). You look at it and see for yourself. I got my RCA brand HDMI cable at Wal-Mart for MUCH less than the ones that Best Buy sells.I have the LN-T4042-H. Got it at Best Buy. This one has the 10,000:1 contrast ratio. The one that looks the same at Wal-Mart is a 7,000:1 and has less HDMI inputs. So watch out when comparing prices of TV's at Wal-Mart. You may not be getting what you were expecting.

If you buy the expensive HDMI cables at BB, then you are one of those suckers that was born every moment. Don't be a sucker.

samsungs are the best...

as far as HDMI cables go..go monster..people allways want cheap cheap cheap....but google search studies on hdmis and youll see why you should buy monster....also when you have THX Dolby and other trusted logos for sound and picture on your packaging..you know you can go wrong

as far as what the poster 2 above me said..GO with with 1000

monster backs those cables with a lifetime warranty...so if new versions of hdmi come out with even newer tecnology as whats out now....monster will replace the cable with a newer more update to version

thats awesome

dont be a sucker who spends less cash at walmart for a cheap cable....

Right....

You mean like this Google search?

http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,12...1/article.html

Give me your links please.

As far as a lifetime warranty, I could buy ten or more cables for the cost of a Monster cable.

I've used a $6 HDMI cable since I started in the HDTV world. My uncles Pioneer Kuro uses the same cable at 25 feet. No difference, no problems, and savings of over $100 dollars, and even more for him with a cable that big.

Because they paid him?

Seriously, Monster is a joke. They sell at a huge markup. I'm not even saying their products are inferior. They are once you factor in price, however. Just get a cable from Monoprice or Bluejeanscable and you'll be happy. You'll also save enough money to buy a few blu-rays to watch on your new set.

I've been using Monoprice for years and would never go elsewhere. However, I hear Bluejeanscable is great too. Both offer much better, realistic pricing than Monster.

Corrosion? Seriously, are you in a submarine? Updated profiles swapped out for free? Do some simple math. A 6ft hdmi 1.3a cable from Monoprice will run you about $9-10 after shipping. A 4ft run of the Monster 1000 cable mentioned earlier is a whopping $75! (http://www.directdeals.com/Category....FR8ViQod4gZ3Vg)

How many cables could you buy as a replacement for your cheapie should it ever corrode (lol, whut?) or be updated? Does it even MATTER that it's updated? You'd need a new system to take advantage of it.

Seriously, stay far far away from Monster cables.

uummmm...Samsung does not make Sony's TVs. They make their LCD panels, but not the entire TV. At least to my knowledge.

If you get nothing else out of this thread, at least understand that the most foolish thing you can do is to buy (and buy into) all of the Moster HDMI cable crap being spread by folks trying to justify their mistakes to themselves. But don't just take my word (or especially theirs). Review the numerous threads on this site and over at AVS. You will soon see that 99+% of the folks will tell you the same thing:

Buy Monoproce cables, and put the savings over Monster toward something that WILL make a difference...like better speakers or a better AVR.

Or...use the savings to buy more BD's!
