Does anybody here know if you can adjust the screen size with an Onkyo 605? Everything is incredibly zoomed in on my TV making it impossible to see some things. An example is with the ps3 loading sign in the top right corner. When played on my Standard Definition TV it is perfectly clear sitting away from the corners of the TV, but on my Projection 1080i TV, i can only see half of the loading sign, and it sits directly pressed against the right side of the TV with only a little room above it.
Also, i can see the reflection of what is below the TV come through the screen near the bottom of the TV, which can sometimes be distracting... Anyway, yeah... I've got an Onkyo 605 7.1 receiver, a terrible 1080i projection screen TV (47'). Im going through HDMI to the reciever with an HDMI-DVI adaptor going from the reciever to the TV itself. However, even when i go componant (PS3) - Componant (TV), it remains zoomed in. Same thing with using the HDMI-DVI adaptor directly from the PS3 to the TV. The TV settings have nothing to do with it. It is set at 16:9 with no zooming on. The only other zoom in/out options i have are to zoom in even more then it already is. By the way, it hasnt always been like this. It's slowly been zooming in a couple mm ever few months. Its about 3 years old... If anybody has any idea of how to get around this, please let me know. ![]() Thanks! EDIT: Forgot to mention that i've tried every resolution possible. 1080i, 720p, etc. It all just looks the same for the most part... |

sounds like the overscan in effect.
as you say, its getting a little worse over time...the best option would be to get a new TV or have someone come out and calibrate it. (unless you know how to work a service menu, but I would not advise this) |

![]() ![]() Im clueless here. Can i just go down to Future Shop and say "Hey... can i have somebody calibrate my TV" and then have it happen? ![]() If so, will that also get rid of the terrible outline that sits on everything even though i set the EE to the lowest it can go? ![]() That would be incredibly great. ![]() This wont cost much, will it? I just spent 100 bucks on MGS4 and still have some other stuff to buy. ![]() Last edited by X-Ninja; 06-15-2008 at 03:06 AM. |

professional calibration can be fairly expensive. And thats not even a guarantee to fix your problem because I was only guessing at what the problem could be.
Calibration "might" fix your problem, or it might not. ![]() ...calibration runs ~$300+ here in the USA. For that price, you could just use that on a new TV. But it would be a last resort to try if you didn't want to buy a new TV. |

What Adjustments Are Made With An ISF Calibration?
"Geometry, Over Scan & Convergence After focusing, the geometry and convergence of the image need to be adjusted. Geometry is the overall shape and size of the image. With geometry, green is used as the reference to which red and blue are converged to make one image. Geometry includes the need to minimize over scan. A certain amount of over scan is necessary so that the information inserted at the top of the picture is not seen. Over scan is not necessary with DVD but all but the most expansive data and graphic displays are capable to display the entire picture without noticeable geometric and/or convergence distortions Good geometry insures that the entire image is level, centered and sized properly. If all three images are well focused and converged, bleeding of colors around edges or lettering will be minimal if any at all depending on the make and model of your set. Depending on the make and model of your RPTV, focusing, geometry and convergence may take up to 80% of the entire calibration process. A note on two piece front or rear projection displays: the mechanical relationship between the projector and the screen is of up most importance since they are not housed in a pre fabricated enclosure and mechanical alignment errors can easily occur which may make focusing, alignment and convergence difficult and in some cases even impossible." |
