Which one I buy has to do with which one of Rock Band and GH4 that comes out first in Europe. I could import RB, sure, but then I wouldn't get the DLC.

Yes you can. Establish and maintain a US PS store account with a US gift card. I do it on iTunes Japan, and plan on doing so with RockBand Japan in the future

I don't feel good about "lying" to Sony about who I am or where I live.

Plus I have no way of getting hold of a NA debit card.

You don't need one, and your can order the gift cards through amazon or many other retailers

The most important thing is who gets paid. If you're buying through the North American store, using NA money, then the proper people get paid, and everyone is happy. It's not like you're stealing/pirating it.

I'd love to continue this discussion, but it feels like we're hi-jacking the thread.

What kind of DLC does Rock Band have in Japan?

Edit: This veered off the OP kinda quickly. Should these posts be merged into the RB Megathread or no?

GH World Tour looks like a small update from Rock Band...plus, unless they seriously worked hard on their instruments this time, there is no way I will purchase it. I had enough trouble with GH3 on my PS3, whereas I have no problem with the Rock Band instruments (other than my drum pedal breaking recently). I would LOVE bluetooth instruments, but I don't feel like that would ever happen.

I'm just getting angry that Activision and MTV/Harmonix are basically splitting the music now, where one gets the rights to some songs, and the other doesn't get those ones. So to be able to get all the songs you want, you have to acquire both expensive games, which peripherals that aren't compatible with each other (not even guitars which are pretty standard control wise).

I've been VERY happy with Rock Band, and I hope to see what Harmonix has in their bag next very soon.

I think the blame for this split can be more attributed early on when Activision prohibited the release of the Harmonix patch that would allow GH guitars to work with Rock Band. And now with Activision splitting that rift even more further along with their release of WT, which is nothing more than a slightly updated version of RB, I think I'm just gonna wait to see what Harmonix has up their sleeve with RB2. With gas prices being what they are, I think I'll put WT on my no-buy list since RB2 will only be a couple of months away with hopefully bigger improvements over RB.

Yeah same here. I will wait to pick up WT when it is cheap used. GH3 is now $20 at Gamestop used.

Ill be picking this up definately, but most likely just the game. Dont need the new equipment and could care less about the drums. and this is why GH rules!

What is up with these forums and "could care less"?! I swear it's in every third post I read! Couldn't you use the swear filter to replace "could care" with "couldn't care"?

No, it's because Activision came in and dropped $120 million on Red Octane right before the talent got bought and left town. They were left holding the franchise bag with no one to fill it

So (as the story goes), they hired a bunch of Guitar Hero hackers off Youtube to chart the songs while Neversoft tried desperately to re-create the engine (which Harmonix owned) as fast as possible. Activision has the name brand, don't doubt that for a minute. The problem is that they don't have the talent, the musicality, and more importantly the kind of pockets and connections MTV does.

I don't think very many bands will go exclusive. GH:Metallica is coming, but they're not exclusive for example. I doubt the Beatles will sign exclusivity either. If they do, I expect MTV to spend the money to make it theirs.

I would like Guitar Hero better if MTV didn't have anything to do with it. MTV currently has nothing to do with music .

There's definitely no doubting that there was a lot of behind-the-scenes drama in regards to the Activision/Neversoft and EA/MTV Games/Harmonix release of GH3 and RB, however, I just meant that the whole RB/Guitar Hero guitar patch bruhaha was the first in-the-public's-face sign of Activision's stance on how they felt about the whole situation.

I certainly am not looking forward to band exclusivity for any specific music game, be it RB or GH, but it seems more and more to me that Activision seems to be pushing that you HAVE to buy their game to get whatever band you may happen to like

Yes, they worked on the first 3 games helping to secure music rights. Check the startup screens.
