Default Japanease HD DVD Promotion Group site removed Spielberg's titles

Today, Japanease HD DVD promotion site (http://www.hddvdprg.com/jpn/index.html) had removed Spielberg's titles from its future release list "as a mistake".

After all, this list seems to be a "wish list".

Apology for our Contents List

The inclusion in the January 29 update of our "Coming Soon List" of three Steven Spielberg classics was an error on our part. The HD DVD Promotion Group expresses sincere apologies to Steven Spielberg, Universal Studios Home Entertainment and HD DVD fans for this mistake. We will endeavor to prevent any similar mistake and to provide accurate information.

Default More bad news for HD-DVD: No Spielberg's movies in the promotion list

Can we assume that Spielberg sent a stern message to HD-DVD group that he didn't want his movies associated with HD-DVD??

Spielberg wants to be associated with the winnah

And *SONY* is arrogant?

Wow, talk about absolute and complete desperation. The promo group takes a look at a "coming soon" list and figure they need to goose it a bit?

Very sad. A massive black eye. And the faithful are left wondering if the rest of the list is BS or not.

Maybe the management switch was the reason Universal original was silent about titles. They were waiting for the switchover and an OK from the boss. But someone (whoever could that have been? ) applied massive pressure for some sort of announcement, so they got that non-committal list.

The entire list is gone now. Replaced by the apology on the HDDVDPRG site.

I haven't laughed this hard in a long time. Partly because I understand the pain that some of the HD DVD fans are going through. We had our first US anime blu-ray announced recently only to have it retracted 24 hours later. Seeing something you want get listed (even worse for anime fans, hve dates and prices!) only to have it disappear isn't fun.

But really, anyone who lived through the first years of DVD saw the writing on the wall with this one. Spielberg just doesn't let his titles be launch fodder. They require it to sell certain numbers or else there's a loss of face for lack of a better phrasing.

Or, the recent key hacks has Spielberg thinking: "Not until it is shown to be safe, or I can sell a ton".
