Default Nightmare Before Christmas question...

Thankfully it is coming finally in August which is fantastic...
BUT my question is, while at moviestop today I saw that there is going to be an insane collector's edition that is being released but only for the dvd version and I am just curious as to why?
In theory the packaging would be exactly the same, the disk size is the same so they could fit in the same space...
So WHY do we get screwed yet again?
(Do not get me wrong, I would have some hesitation about the price but would still get it)

I am sure the studios are already palnning on MAJOR douple dips for Blu-ray. We are already seeing it with 300, which sold very well in Blu. It is a part of business that won't change.

Whoever is doing that, it's been subcontracted from Disney as it's not listed on their retailer site

There is no difference in disc content, there is a very limited edition hand painted bust of Santa Jack included that plays voice clips. That's where the extra $140 SRP comes in.

If you want the bust that badly, buy both and hock the DVD SE to someone. Sales volume is just too low right now for that kind of hyper-expensive giftset, especially on catalog titles

According to Bill Hunt, disc content actually favors the BD, which also includes a Burton intro. The Ultimate Ed set that is exclusive to DVD is the same content sans Burton intro and HD video/lossless audio, but on three DVDs instead of 2 BDs and it comes with a Jack Skellington bust for about 150.00 more than the price of the DVD alone or 140.00 more than the BD.
