Yes its early..3 months away, but sounds like its going to be great. I usually go down to Orlando to visit my sister and nephew every October. Going to Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights is like a tradition for me.

Halloween Horror Nights 2008 - (7/4/08) In the latest press release from Universal Orlando about this year’s Halloween Horror Nights they mention that “guests will experience the most chilling and psychologically intense Halloween Horror Nights in history. There will be all-new haunted houses, scarezones and shows. And at the center of the horror will be someone new. Someone you’ve never met before but long-feared. Someone who inflicts fear beyond comprehension.” Of course my gut reaction on this was a Dentist (fear beyond comprehension for many) but that just doesn’t match up either, especially with the Freud quote. Some readers have come up with their own ideas, one involving the mirror is story of Bloody Mary who appears in a mirror if you say her name three times. My gut says no to that one, but I do like the suggest from another reader that this could be a Boogeyman character, which matches up with the idea that it’s someone you’ve never met but have feared forever.
According to what one reader tells us there is actually a connection between the “Boogeyman” and a Shrink in a short story by Stephen King from Night Shift. Seems a fellow is seeing a shrink about how the Boogeyman killed all his children in various ways (Crib Death, Convulsions causing one to swallow her tongue, etc) and he starts to believe that his Shrink is really the Boogeyman hiding behind a doctor’s mask.
Anyway, Universal has already put tickets on sale. Florida Residents will be able to save up to $33 off the price of admission with a UPC code from Coke, Diet Coke or Coke Zero products. There will also be the Gory Getaway Package that starts at $95 per adult that includes one night at a Universal Partner Hotel, one night admission to HHN18, access to the live entertainment in Citywalk, a free 5x7 photo and transportation from the hotel to Universal Orlando. For non-Florida Residents the Gory Getaway Package is a little more pricey, starting at $232 per adult but comes with a two night stay in a hotel, admission to USF and IOA for 7 consecutive days, one nights admission to HHN18, access to Citywalk, the comp 5x7 photo and transportation from the hotel to Universal Orlando. (888-467-7677) Regular admission to HHN18 is $69.99 and you can also buy a Frequent Fear pass for $69.99 which is good for admission for 13 different nights: September 26 and 27, October 2, 5, 9, 12, 16, 19, 22, 23, 26, 29 and 30.

I've always wanted to go . . . lived an hour away for eight years now and have never been. From what I hear the crowds are insane and you basically have to pick a couple things you want to do because you won't have time to do everything. At the prices they charge for it, f*** that. I've done Howl-O-Scream a few times, which is fun, but everybody says HHN is much better.

I'll be there. Took the GF last year(at that time 21 years old) and she didn't know it was 80% haunted houses so shes crying(yes, like a 4 yr old wanting candy in the grocery store) while we're waiting 2 hours to get into Texas Chainsaw's haunted house. Embarassing :-/

This year I'm bringing some friends and shes staying in the hotel.

**Word of advise to people who haven't gone. Last year was my first year. I made a huge mistake by NOT getting the fast pass to skip the lines. They re-open the park at 6 or 7pm and is open until like 2 am. With those lines we were able to make it to 4 out of the 8 haunted houses!!! Make sure you spend the extra cash so you're able to wait in lines of 10-15min and you'll be able to experience everything they have to offer. And even have time for the 7 & 7's that they serve in line Or shots of vodka

Yes, they really serve liquor while you're waiting in line.

I went the first 3 years they had it, and it was really awesome. I don't scare easily, but got a few good frights here.

Then took a few years off. Went again like 4 years ago... RIDICULOUS!!!

It's a fantastic concept, and Universal executes that concept really well, but they really should try to limit the crowds a bit. It may not be as bad on nights during the week, but the weekends are just ridiculous now.
