Default Madden 09 Cover Debate Part II

There was a Madden Cover Done before, but this issue was never brought upon. Only once, by me, So I decided, to take this Thread to a whole new different level. My Debate Is, that in a difficult NFL season, as a Redskins fan and to non Redskins fans. It was a year with a Loss of one Spectacular player, Sean Taylor. Now, before everyone starts bashing on a man's off the field issues, don't forget that, who hasnt had issues outside of their profession? If you haven't, please tell us what you did and what you do. Sean Taylor had potential to be the Greatest Safety to ever play the game. In his 4 years, ON THE FIELD, he was the most dominant Safety to come out of the University of Miami, and to play on the Field. No Disrespect to Brett Favre, but the Guy is in discussion of making a comeback to the NFL. What Kind of Fluke Mess is this? If you say You'r going to retire, then do so. Now, seriously, the death of Sean was horrible and horrific, I believe as a Tribute to ONE of the Greatest Players to Play this game, the 2009 Madden Cover Should Look Like this......

NOW LET THE DEBATE BEGINS

-They probably need the permission of Taylor's family/estate to put him on the cover. If they say, no, then that settles it.

-EA is now in some type of legal contract with Farve.

-Favre was announced as the cover boy before this joke of a comeback mess.

-20th Anniversary edition who better to put on the cover than a player that has been in 75% of all Madden games ever made and who has been a dominating, Super Bowl winning QB at that. Sorry, but Taylor, while great, was very young, and never had the chance to make the impact in the NFL that Brett Farve had.

- Its not a matter that Taylor had off field issues, its a matter that the entire NFL seems to have off field issues. The NFL looks much better, especially at a time when player behavior is so bad, to put their perfect solider on the front, and not somebody who seemed to be tangled up in off field issues.

However, I do think they should have some type of tribute to Taylor in the game.

Unlockable Sean Taylor charcter with Big Boss corpse camo, maybe. Awww...that was bad, sorry.

The real person who should be on the cover is an NFL player who died while saving another person's life: Marquise Hill.

While not a star he exemplified what an nfl player should be.

also doesn't help that he was a defensive position and madden has only had 1 cover boy from a D-postition in the last decade I think (Ray Allen 05).

My son has the potential to become the greatest NFL QB of all time..... he's only 8 months old, but he's got loads of potential

Potential is a fancy way of saying "hasn't done anything yet"

Terrible thing that happened to Sean Taylor..... but I don't think he should be on the cover..... what about Pat Tillman? He didn't get the nod for the cover........ see??? it'd never end.

Face it, Sean Taylor doesn't deserve the cover. Madden wants somebody marketable and few people know Taylor as anyone other than a murdered football player. While he was good, Madden isn't going to memorialize someone with their cover. I personally don't believe Favre deserved the cover, I would have voted for either Brady (who would have declined), Eli Manning, or Strahan.

You want to honor Sean Taylor and put him on the cover of Madden???

I see no problem with that but EA would first have to make Pat Tillman the cover athlete of the Arizona Cardinals who left the NFL to go fight in Iraq before he passed

He fought in Afghanistan. HE enlisted after 9/11. Pat Tillman needs to be honored as a hero more than Sean Taylor.

I'd think either Manning Lite or Strahan would be logical choices for the next cover. Although as a Pats fan, I wouldn't be too thrilled about it!

If I had the same issues outside of work I would not have the job I have now. Also, active NFL players die. It is sad and nobody wishes it. Cory Stringer was not on the cover. Darren Williams (good off the field guy) died last year. He didn't make the cover.

The cover of Madden is always for joy, to celebrate the happiness of the past season and the prospect of the upcoming season, not to morn the death of somebody. There are online forum names that do that.

did you father Sean Taylor's love child or something, because you have gone beyond man crush.

Here's something that had been brought up to my attention.... HOW COME...u ready???

How Come:

PAT TILLMAN
CORY STRINGER
DARRENT WILLIAMS

wasn't voted to the pro bowl post humothously? (sp) I don't understand.

As a Die Hard Skinz fan, I Believe it would've been a good tribute for him that's all. Clearly never, did I say Brett Favre wasn't good enough. I thought it would be proper for ST. AND ELI MANNING???? ARE YOU KIDDING??? THE GIANTS D won the SUPERBOWL !!!!

Pat Tillman, Korey Stringer, and Darrent Williams didn't die in the season and thus weren't eligible for the pro bowl.
