Default Sony announces in game advertising deal with Double Fusion

http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2008/07/10/...double-fusion/

The news also states that the in game advertising industry will rise by 1,150% by 2011 to almost one billion dollars. Hopefully, this will mean cheaper games by Sony and MMO's at little or no monthy cost at all. But something tells me this is old news though.

I have already noticed this while playing Pain. Many EA games also have alot of advertisement especially in the sports and driving genre.

I have no problems with in-game advertisements to a point.

I don't mind seeing ads on the boards in an NHL game for example. It makes sense.

I don't mind billboards in games like with real advertisements, or seeing real vending machines or a mcdonalds. Heck, I loved that Crazy Taxi involved driving people to KFC sometimes. It just makes sense.

Would I mind if I coul buy some Nikes for my guy in the sims? Nope. That'd be fine.

Do I want to see loading screens turn into ads for Pepsi - nope - I sure don't.

For me, it's all a matter of integrating them into things so I barely notice I'm looking at and ad

a coca cola ad in a game > a lobster cola ad in a game. makes it more realistic.

as long as we aren't advertising ridiculous stuff (ie the walls in MLB 09 plastered with ads for NBA 09) im fine.

They've been doing this on PS2 for a while now, with The Need For Speed games, like seeing Burger King and stuff in the games, hey, whatever, it's just a bunch of crap I won't buy anyway probably, but if it makes my games cheaper, and possibly a next gen console cheaper, so be it...
