So I am probably the last one, but finally got around to watching this BLU movie. The sound quality was amazing. I am well aware of the debates, issues, and criticisms. I am not here to rehash this as my take is simply from a beggar can't be chooser perspective. I am a big fan of this sci-fi genre stuff and was thrilled to get another movie. At least they greatly improved the appearances and physical structures of the aliens & predator for this one.
Here are my questions. 1. The coolest thing about this movie is that it picks up directly at the very moment the first one ended. But as things get hectic on that ship and the alien-predator pops out literally where are all the Predators?? There is only like a few. As I recall at the very end of the first movie, that ship lands on earth; and it seemed like there was a whole bunch of Predators coming out, as they lifted up the fallen Predator, load him on the ship and the highest ranking Predator is standing outside giving a "gift" to the mountain climbing female as a show of gratitude after he sees her war "markings" on her cheek. 2. I understand this lone traveling Predator who comes to earth looking for his comrade after the distress signal is obviously like the Michael Jordan of Predators. But after he assesses the situation here on earth and towards the middle realizes there is an infestation of Aliens, why not call for backup?? Why is it that the Predator is always alone or so greatly outnumbered in these movies?? I realize that his rep or street cred is built on that, but it would be nice for once to see a more evenly matched duel in terms of numbers. 3. When the Predator is walking underground looking for the Aliens in the sewer system, why not go to camouflage mode and get the edge when he was clearly so outnumbered?? 4. The ending of the first movie was clearly a brilliant cliff hanger and you pretty much knew a sequel was coming. You could kind of say the same thing about this one as I doubt the Predators will want us having their technology. I double checked box office mojo and the world wide gross for this movie was $128 million dollars. Keep in mind, this figure is box office tickets only, so clearly it was a great return on investment for the makers. Do you think we get another one of these in the next few years?? http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=avp2.htm Last edited by Collectors Set; 07-13-2008 at 06:07 PM. |

at the begining of the movie you see the predator scar on the mantle in the mothership, then chet busts out, then the sometime has passed and you see the mothership pass saturn and only a few predators board the scout ship to return to earth for another hunt, the predalien sneaks aboard and then molts to her full size, and gets the upper hand on the predators, then one of the preds shoots a hole in the ship then crashes to earth.now about the cloaking in the sewers it would not have helped cause the aliens can see[sense] them even when they are cloaked so it would have made no difference.as with most preds they get alittle overconfident sometimes, and the sewer was where he had hoped to contain the situation until the predalien screwed up everything, and that caused wolf to shoot a hole in the sewer to allow the aliens to escape.wolf probaly would have called for help if he needed it but he didnt realize the infestation had gotten out of hand so early, until the latter part of the movie, and even if he did call for help it would take to long for help to arrive,so he just pushed on to fight to the death

Ironically, I just got around to watching this one last night as well, so you're not the only one who saw this one late.
![]() It has been mentioned a few months back that the Strause brothers that directed AVP:R are already in the planning stages of a third one which will supposedly take place somewhere in space again. Possibly on the home planet of either the Predators or Aliens. That could be interesting. I just hope that they get some known actors to play in the movie next time around. |

it is true the strause brothers are throwing a couple of pitches to the studio, and the third will definatly take place in space as the strauses have said that was the plan all along.so we are just waiting right now on the green light.and technically no the preds do not have one win they were both draws as you saw in the first scar was killed by the queen and the queen was pretty much killed by the depths and cold of the water and partially by lex.so they are still pretty much tied at this point.

All things aside, considering where this all started (Alien) with a little known actress, these movies in all have become what has now been pieced together, like no one would've ever thought, to be a franchise for the ages. One can argue, but I say the Alien/Predator/AVP franchise has set itself along the likes of Bond and Star Wars. There are only a handful of franchises that have entertained the masses, with not all chapters being of quality, but yet they have still kept the franchise going. Iam far from a movie critic, but this is just my humble opinion.

thats true and everyone is entiltled to there own opinion i however feel different as i feel the alien movies were terrible and thats not me being one sided as i am diehard predator fan and love everything about the species, the aliens movies to me only had a few cool instances about them other than that there nothing in my opinion.

![]() ![]() For some reason I just had a random total recall based on your comments, but one of the most surprising and stunning scenes for me in the entire Predator movie history line is at the end of Predator 2 when Danny Glover takes out the Pred. You are thinking OK, that is it -- its over just like somehow Arnie was able to overcome the impossible and do the same. But then you see these hologram like images and that unique sound the Preds make as they appear out of camo; but you hear it a bunch of times and next thing you know, Glover is standing in front of a complete posse of Preds; and they end up giving him a departing gift. ![]() |

as a sci fi fan it still blows my mind that the predator vs aliens movies weren't home runs. I thought the first AVP was ok, showed some promise, but the second AVP literally put me to sleep. I did finish it but it took 3 breaks over 2 days to do so. It just bored the hell out of me. I love all the alien movies (even 3) and loved the first predator. Predator is seriously one of the coolest 'monsters' ever created. How they made that combo so uninteresting and uninspired will forever be a mystery to me. I'll be the first one to admit that AVP 3 is good if it is, because I will give it a chance. But at this point I'd be surprised if they did make another one, and if they do I'll be surprised if it isn't straight to blu/dvd or a sci fi movie of the week. |

Predators can't go to cam while standing in water anyway.
We've seen it shorting out several times in other movies as they leave the water. ![]() ![]() |

![]() So what is your take then - the Aliens win eventually or is it just a random freak thing in terms of how they just pop up. I think the first Aliens movie only had them battling one Alien ![]() Last edited by Collectors Set; 07-14-2008 at 02:14 AM. |

The one thing that bugs me to this day is the fact that in ressurection they bring Ripley back to life to gain access to another Alien.
All they had to do is go back to LV426 and find the crashed ship that the eggs came from in the first place. It was surely outside the blast radius when the Atmosphere processor exploded and I don't know about you but it would have been more plausible that the eggs survived the passage of time rather than them being able to clone ripley and get a queen after 7 try's and hundreds of year's! |
