Question Beowulf.. worth getting on blu-ray?

I enjoy the better cgi films of the more enjoyable stories.

I don't doubt the graphics are incredible, but is it worth getting for the story?

The story starts fast, but it really falls flat. A lot of dialog and little action. I was planning on buying this one before I saw it. I recommend you watch it first.

i liked it because it was more intended for adult rather than kids....and not to mention highdefdigest gave it a 5/5 video quality....its a purchase for me

I'm a fan, but realize I'm in the lower percentile. A lot of people I know didnt like, or rather HATE the story. I didnt mind it, taking it for the simple, 'ancient' story that it was.

Cool

I enjoyed it for the fact that it is more adult themed, a rare thing in the world of CGI movies. So a buy for me also, but I would definitely rent first because this is a difficult film to recommend. Story and pacing may turn you off.

I loved the movie and will be looking forward to this getting delivered.
I thought that the story worked and followed through, and of course the visuals were top tier.

I have it on HD-DVD. The PQ and SQ are pretty decent but the movie is really not that great. While I thought it was pretty bad my cousin said it was the worst movie he ever saw in his life. (And he's seen a lot of movies)

If you are into great CGI work though, you might enjoy it

I don't understand questions like "Beowulf.. worth getting on blu-ray?". If you like the movie and think it's being sold at a fair price, then buy it. What's the mystery?

If you're asking because you haven't seen it yet, rent it first.

I've had Beowulf on Blu-ray for a few months now actually. It's the UK import.

I liked the movie, and the PQ for the video is very well done. It's not 3-D, but it gives the illusion of three dimensionality.

This easily earns itself a “4 ˝ Star Rating” for overall audio quality. No complaints here about the sound in any way really, it just didn’t amaze me enough to score any higher than that. This does prove to be a excellent upgrade to the Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 featured on the previous HD-DVD release, I will definitely say that much for it.

I find it amusing that the OP specifically asked about the story over PQ, and yet most of the posts here are about how awesome it's going to look. I'm sure it's going to look great, but that doesn't make up for the poor job they did capturing emotion in the CGI, the bad storyline, or the (sometimes) bad voice acting. That said, Angelina Jolie might be reason enough for some

I actually did not like the story at all. As a fan of the poem, I thought the topics of heroism, sacrifice, and the epic hero should not have been discarded for the chance to show Angelina in high heels (although it certainly is something I like to see). I am attempting to be as spoiler free as possible, and I do acknowledge that it would be difficult putting the story together into a cohesive screenplay, but I thought they could have made a more entertaining story by being more faithful to the original.
