Has anyone been on Amazon.com lately? They have place holders on that site for Star Trek films and series.
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_d?...lu-Ray&x=0&y=0 Now I am not giving any release dates for I don't have them. I'm just saying there might be hope for the Trekkies who are also BD player owners. ![]() Though if you do want a theory to when I think they will start be released, it will be when the J.J. Abrams film is released next summer. |

They're called "place holders" for a reason:
They hold places. Empty places where nothing actually exists. Which is what we say every time somebody notices that their particular wish-list title turns up. (It's a strange, arcane practice that has since become nearly extinct, but Amazon is the only one still geezer enough to practice it...) |

I just saw some of the Star Trek movies on one of the HD channels a week or so ago. Would be awesome if these would come out. Probably when the new movie comes out either in theaters or most likely on BD.

Yeah, I recorded Star Trek III: The Search for Spock and Star Trek: First Contact off the Universal HD channel. Star Trek III was a little rough in places but mostly looked good. I thought Star Trek First Contact looked great. I wonder if how it looks on HD TV is any indication of what the blu-ray will look like? I recorded King Kong on TNT recently as well and thought it looked great. Anyway, hope the fact that they're on TV in HD means the blu-rays aren't far behind.

Star Trek, Star Wars, Stargate, Star truck indiana f*** jones. Placeholders don't mean sh** on amazon. And they rarely email you when something becomes available. They all will be out someday. When you see it posted by Josh on the front page here then you know its coming.

I've recently just finished buying all of DS9 on standard def dvd. While the quality of the stories itself are good, often the picture quality is very grainy and patchy. Would love a HD version of it.

I think that series, like Next Generation was shot in VIDEO mode, stuck in NTSC 720x480 for life... The Old Series was on Film and the newer 2000+ one too.. but most series from 1980 to 2000 were shot in Video Mode. Unless it was a mini series like V
