Any good games on the PS3? - Blu-ray Forum

I am pretty well done with my movie collection for now so I am going to be buying a few games next week. I love sports, action, fighting, racing, platform and shooter type games.

So you've got no games! Well these are some of my favorites.
Sports : Vurtua Tennis. Was a launch game so pretty cheap now.
Action : Uncharted Drakes Fortune. Argubaly the best exclusive on PS3.
Fighting : Teken Dark resurection. PSN download = cheap
Racing : Burnout paradise city. Awesome open world racing.
Platform : Ratchet & Clank. Arguably the best exclusive on PS3
shooter : Call of Duty 4 is too obvious. I prefer Warhawk

I agree, Drakes Fortune was (and still is) one fantastic game.

Also, there's Heavenly Sword ... masterful work!

For shooter category, you can't go wrong with Resistance: Fall of Man. Play this one ... especially since there's a sequel due out in November.

And finally, give Lair a shot. I found this game to be a lot of fun (frustrating at times, but still fun).

Soul Calibur 4 (i know its not out yet but im sure it will please most fighting fans and Tekken 6 looks awesome but that will be kind of a little wait for that one and that also includes Street Fighter which we wont see till next year

I'll give it a go here:

Sports : NCAA Football 09 - out today and it's getting good reviews.
Action : Uncharted - get the demo from the PSN just to make sure...
Fighting : Tekken Dark - good, but Street Fighter IV is just around the bend.
Racing : Burnout or Gran Turismo 5: Prologue - arcade vs. simulation.
Platform : Ratchet & Clank.
Shooter : Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - unbelievable multiplayer.

EDIT: Looks like I was wrong about Street Fighter IV; take a look at Soul Calibur 4 instead.

Metal Gear Solid 4 and COD4 are my two favorites at the moment. Uncharted and Ratchet are both great too. I also like Motorstorm for some racing action. Resistance is good but was really hard for me to play after seeing the graphics on COD4 so if you want to play this I recommend playing it all the way through first.

Here are some of my favorites:
Resistance: Fall of Man
Call of Duty 4
Battlefield: Bad Company
NCAA 09 (not out yet, but it will be a good one)
As far as basketball games, I like 2k sports versions over EA (although it used to be the other way around... until I got my PS3)

If you play online, COD4 is amazing... not sure about Bad Company, though (I would think it would be pretty good)

I really like several of the PS3 games but these are probably my favorites: Heavenly Sword, Uncharted, MLB 08 The Show, Motorstorm and GT5 Prologue. As for PSN games: Super Stardust HD, High Velocity Bowling and Tekken. I haven't played it enough to know for sure yet but so far I've really enjoyed the PSN game Fatal Inertia as well.

Definitely check out Ratchet and Clank since you said you liked platformers. Bad Company has been fun and the Lego Star Wars and Lego Indiana Jones games are fun as well (and kid friendly if that's important). COD4 is good and seems to be the most popular among the people I know that have PS3s (or was until Metal Gear Solid was released, now most seem to be playing that). F1 racing is a great sim type racing game with incredible races in the rain.

HEAVENLY SWORD - Cool story and gameplay similar to god of war.
DEVIL MAY CRY 4 - Kick ass action
RESISTANCE - good FPS
UNCHARTED - Also like gears of war as far as gameplay mechanics.
UNREAL TOURNAMENT 3 - awesome graphics and you can download add ons
DARK SECTOR - Very similar to gears of war in gameplay
RATCHET AND CLANK - awesome platformer
BURNOUT PARADISE - awesome open world racing game. Its tight.
SOUL CALIBUR 4 - comes out in about 2 weeks. Im buying this one.
METAL GEAR SOLID 4 - awesome and should be your first game for the ps3

I like Assasins Creed More then Uncharted. Uncharted you had to follow the single path in the game all the wat through it. Assasins Creed was a run where ever you want when you want. It's my favorite game that I have played so far.

I have ASSASSINS CREED as well,
I cant fully reccommend this title based on the sheer fact that it gets a lilbit repetitive.Matter of fact im about to go to Gamestop once E3SONY on G4TV is over and Im going to trade in LAIR, ARMY OF 2, ASSASSINS CREED,NEED FOR SPEED PRO STREET towards SOUL CALIBUR 4

Its extremely repetitve, ahhaha and your lucky because it wins my award for most horrible ending in any game ever!
