Default Ebay Payment

I sold some of my dvds and stated that payment was paypal only. The buyer wants to pay by money order. This person has no buying history. I'm just curious if you guys would let this person pay by money order. I know money orders are safer than checks but they can still be fraudulent. How would you handle this?

Tell him you'll take it, go cash the money order, then ship his stuff. Tell him that's how you're doing it and that it may take a little longer due to that, and if he doesn't like it, then no deal. If it says in your auction you're paypal only and he doesn't want to go by that, that's not your fault.

I'd take the money order. Just inform the buyer than the items dont ship until you take the money order and get it cashed. Thats a reasonable thing to expect. Alot of people dont have paypal or are afraid of putting their numbers online, so ive had a few people pay in money orders and not have any problems.

The problem with money orders is that unless you have a stingy bank, most money orders received via ebay are below the banks auto clear limit. So you may have something clear today @ 4 PM and not learn that it is bad until 3 or 4 days later.

Insist that they guy gets a postal money order and then take it to the post office to cash back in to get cash in hand and ship his item right then and there. Safest way to do it.

Postal Money Order and for the exact amount only. Don't fall for the "over-payment" bit.

Didn't want to start a new thread but I'm having ebay issues this week. I'm using Auctiva to host my listings. Most of my listings are buy it now options but twice this week I've had buyers commit to buying but not complete the checkout process. WTF? I clearly indicated in the description and in the payment instructions that I required immediate payment. How long should I wait before relisting the item? WTH is wrong with these buyers? Why would you commit to buy something and then not pay for it?

Thanks for listening. I just needed to rant. I've had the most ridiculous questions this week. Everything from people asking me if they could commit to buy and then pay me on the 15th. I just had a nonbuyer yesterday tell me that he committed to buy and that he couldn't complete the checkout process. I called his bluff and relisted the item and it sold to another buyer later in the day and that buyer seemed to have no issues with the checkout process. I think this is the last time I deal with the ebay drama.

When you relist an item because the buyer wouldn't follow through on the transaction, do you get charged the eBay fee for the item the first time it was "sold"?

I had the same question so I sent ebay an email earlier today. If not, I'm going to be so pissed. Seriously some people have no business shopping on Ebay.

If you are a premier Paypal member you can insist on instant payment on Buy It Now items. When the user commits to buy they are taken straight to the payment screens and until they complete payment other users can still buy the item.

What are the requirements to become a premier member. My account was opened in 2001. I have a 250+ rating 100% feedback? Do I qualify?
