Default PS3 Availability at BB

I just checked BB and they have PS3's online for sell. If you are looking for one that's where to find it as of now!

Here in Ontario sales must be dreadful, on the same day I saw 2 at my local futureshop and 3 at my local walmart. Its probably because they raised the price 40 dollars. EB keeps selling out more then likely due to that reason.

I've never seen one at a BestBuy near me.

Walmart and Target just recently seem to keep a decent stock in though.

The BestBuy near me used to have a stack behind Customer Service... those sold out but the new shipment, they just put them on the shelves. There was about 12 of them yesterday.

Why do people think that just because an item sits on the shelf, it isn't selling? I see 50 Toyota Camrys "sitting" in the lot at the dealers, boy they must not be selling. Maybe as soon as a system is sold, they are replaced with another system from the stockroom?

Selling out at $599? are you serious? This approach, while risky, seems to be working really well. Can I find one via mail order? Yes, newegg, some redicolous bundle deals, and ebay (with price premiums).

Instant gratification? Not so easy. BB, CC and walmarts are sold out in a decent size radius (25 to 100 miles) around me.

However, a friend of mine has a gamestop with a dozen last week, walks up and buys one just like that and happily goes home no fuss no muss.

Depends on the locale, the general market for it in your area. Same as PS2 launch. Launch day you couldnt get it, but 2 weeks later you could if you looked real well. Same deal with nintendo's original game boy launch. Some areas were out, other had stacks. go figure.

But it is slowly and steadily gaining ground. If sony takes 2 years to hit number 1 so be it. If it is a strong number 2- who cares? sony will still support and make games for it, especially with thier intrests in blu ray. I prefer a strong number 2 so competition may bring down game and console prices. We the consumers really make out in this scenario.

Like Bigsapteer said, just because its available doesnt mean its not a hot or succesful item.

Ive been trying to look for a Wii locally (southern california) and ive been to 12 stores so far. No Wii's (i missed some at walmart by 10 minutes), and 2 stores had PS3s, 1 gamestop had a single 60 gig, and 1 walmart had 2 60 gigs. Rest of the stores sold out completely. So, they are definitely selling out and moving in numbers. Its just that the Wii is so much cheaper, it is much more of a Impulse buy.

I talked to the head of the electronics at our local Walmart (Cambridge, MN) and he said they sell an average of 10-15 PS3's every ten days. Oddly, they only have either the 60gig or 20gig models at one time, never both.

The best buy near me always seems to have them in stock. But they only have space on the shelf for like 4 or 5 to create the following thought in the minds of their customers "gosh they are almost out, I better buy one now." Then when they get down to only 1 or 2 left they go in back and put a couple more out. In contrast they have about 100 Xbox 360's stacked all out in the open for everyone to see and buy.

They haven't been in stock in my area. I also work at Circuit City and we normally get about 4 units each shipment and they are gone by the next shipment.

At my local BB they had around 60 or so 60 gig PS3's. Most were all stacked on the floor next a stack of 360 boxes. It took about 10-14 days, but now all of the PS3's are gone. For a time they were also out of the controllers, but now have plenty. I also know that they have had the PS3s in stock at our local Gamestop. The fact is the PS3s are selling, they just do not sell out quite as fast as some people think they should. Hey it's $600 and you have to really want one, especially after Xmas and you are getting with all your credit card bills. Locally the Wii is still impossible to find. They sell out the same day they come in and the controllers are next to impossible to find. It is much easier to spend $250 than $600. I think the next surge for the PS3 will be in about a month or so when people get their tax refunds back and there are more quality games out like Mortorstorm. I have been using my PS3 now for about two months and just love it. It is a great gaming machine and a fantastic Blu-Ray player. I am feel very lucky to have a PS3 and do not regret getting one.

This past weekend I tried to get a PS3 and I called everyone - BB, CC, Walmart, Gamestop. Nobody had one in stock so I went on craigslist and strangely enough they were selling for $600 brand new for a 60gb - cheaper than paying for the console + tax. I just wanted the PS3 for the Blu-ray player so I ended up picking up a brand new 20gb one for $450.

They still are selling pretty well at least in my area. At least now they are available. I believe I saw them at CC online.

It’s think it’s going to be hit and miss all year. Just checking a few web sites this afternoon:

U.S.
Best Buy – no stock
Circuit City – no stock
Wal Mart – in stock (bundles)

Canada
Futureshop – no stock
Best Buy – no stock

I live in Fargo, ND and they are in stock at every store you go to, all the time. Only 60 GB though.
