Default Warning: Video Store

HD does NOT mean 5.1 or high end audio, just a warning to everyone. I rented a movie off the service rather than pirating a movie or even just going to blockbuster. This shit is so misleading. I'm going to send a letter to Consumerist, because when I called sony they completely refused me a refund, or even a store credit (I'd have even used store credit to get the new stardust expansion). They need to put in the video descriptions what the audio is and what the video is set to as well. Its so misleading..

yeah, sorry for the rant, but im pissed. not even an xbox fan, but at least their hd movies have 5.1..

Thanks threadshitter. Audio matters to this guy, but you can't possibly understand that. Thanks for the post.

Well to expect high-end audio is outside the realm of possibility.

What movie did you get that didn't have the DD 5.1 with it?

Which movie did you rent? I don't see anything on the description about 5.1 or 720p for that matter.

Just as a further note, none of the 'HD' videos on PSN, even the free ones have 'HD audio'.

Sucks to learn that way though.

with their prices, itd be eaiser jsut to buy the blu-ray........the tv rentals are the only thing worth it if u missed an episode there and there......at 1.99.....I do say anyone that buys "AM I Smarter then a 5th Grader" for 1.99 is really not that smart.....gameshows should be free or super super discounted......the movies at sd for ownership are 14.99 for most....umm, the dvd is cheaper by about 5-8 dollars than that and its right at the blu-ray price from amazon....the movie part is a rip-off big time....no offence sony, just trying to earn a buck or really, they did this to drive u away from downloads and to Blu-ray......which kicks the shi* out of downloads anyways

That sucks. So much for a possible alternative to Netflix.

except as of today you can RENT VIDEOS ON PS3.

for the record it was a lame movie i felt like checking out, Blue State. i've emailed consumerist and kotaku on this as i feel cheated. they outright refuse to refund me, or even give me store credit.

and yes i do care about audio as i dropped almost 600$ on a home theatre setup recommended by the awesome guys on the home theatre section...

Except that HD never meant "HD Audio" but in most cases refer specifically to the video being either 720p, 1080i or 1080p.
It would indeed be better if there was a description for both the video and the audio format for the file, but the term "HD" was in no way misleading, unless the file was provided in sub-720p.

xbox360's hd downloads = 5.1, doesnt have to say it, it should be implied, hell, on the web you can download 720p mkv files at the same file size as psn (about 5gb) and they have 5.1, so its bullshit.

Forum is called Blu-ray Games AND PS3.

If you think every post here is about games then you must be new here.

Wahhh, I didn't get 5.1 Now you learned your lesson. Spend $600 on a home theater system? Wow!!! What do you expect for that?

Perfectly reasonable. This isn't a replacement for Blu Ray.

You can spend 100 dollars and still get DD 5.1. That's all he was asking for.

I can understand why you are mad - but if the $5 or whatever is that big of an issue to try this out and not have it turn out the way you want, maybe you should have waited a day to see what other people were experiencing?

I'm not flaming - just asking...
