Default Keeping your movies separate from Kids/Wife

Do you do this?
So far i've been able to keep from buying blu-rays for my wife and kids. They are content to rent, but if they ever started buying their own blurays i would most definitely have to quarantine their titles. Don't want that crap rubbing off on my movies. People might think i'm not cool.

I have a lot of movies for my young daughter and general family movies and they all intermingle with mine. However my daughter's copy of "High School Musical" is in permanent quarantine on a shelf of its own.

I keep the kids Dvd's separate from the Blu-ray's.I usually buy the the kids dvd's still unless its a movie that I know they will keep looking at then I would get it in
Blu.

Correct, but the quality of your blu collection diminishes severely when you have Alvin and the Chipmunks positioned right next to 2001.
Oh, i see you actually said quantity. Well i've got nothing good to say about that mentality of collecting movies.

wow, I can't believe people are this uppity about their movies. Who gives a crap whether or not theirs of a copy of Alvin in with 2001. Who really cares?? Usually when people do this the only person who actually gives a rats ass is themselves thinking everyone else actually cares

I have my own room, which is where I keep my movies, etc. My fiance's are in the bedroom, where she has her own bookcase.

Take it easy big fella. It's just a lighthearted question. I've seen threads a mile long about how people don't want odd sized cases on their shelves, it doesn't seem too ridiculous to assume some people would want their movies separate from the other people in the house.
Either sarcasm doesn't sit too well on this site, or some people just don't have a wife or kids to deal with.

I separate a couple of ways, anime has its own giant wall cabinet separated within by movies and series, regular tv series have there own area, animated movies are separated out but next to the mass of my regular movies, blu-ray has its own section now as I have enough to do so, and everything else is together. From there, for ease of finding, everything is alphabetized. Sounds a bit confusing but, it isn't and, it makes it far easier finding things.

Actually, I worry about others going through my collection and getting fingerprints on the cases, putting them back out of order, etc. With BDs and DVDs, this isn't that much of a problem, but oftentimes it is with CDs. I had a friend who used to hold several of my CDs (in their jewel cases) and shuffle through them like he was going through a deck of cards. (Scratches!) Even worse, I have another friend with really greasy/sweaty hands, and he'd take out the CD booklets and get fingerprints ALL OVER the paper. I didn't have the heart to tell him to stop doing this....

Well our BluRay collection is currently all together since we really don't own anything too kiddy or anything. But in our DVD collection, yes, I have my DVDs all around the house, the kids have their movies in there rooms (they have a TV and DVD player in there room) and then we have alot of DVDs by the TV too.

You're in Ft. Worth, TX. I already think you're not cool.

Seriously, though, do the people who see your movie collection not know that you have a wife and kids? If they don't know, then serious props on keeping the wife away from the mistress -- though bad form on bringing the mistress into the home. If they know about the family, then they already know you have too many family obligations to be truly cool.

I keep all of my DVDs and Blu Rays in the same place, and I have DVDs that I have purchased for my wife (she's content in renting most movies, so haven't bought a Blu for her yet) She also enjoys a lot of the same films, so when I buy Godfather, it'll be equally enjoyed by my wife.....

I got attacked for "where" I keep them, but that's a whole other story.... In the process of painting etc. at a new house, but right now I keep them in a closet in a spare bedroom (although new house has a room off of the theater room that they will be stored in) because I can't keep that many disks in my living room (no dedicated theater room in the current house, can't wait to finish working on the new house so we can move!)

Yeah, although I do get the OPs point: I wouldn't want Alvin and the Chipmunks touching (the upcoming) Casablanca. I say put the crap Blu-ray movies with the Blu-ray porn. Hopefully, if anyone finds the porn, they'll be to excited by that to care about the crap movies. Although, they might see Alvin and the Chipmunks next to Pirates and report you to the state as a child molester. Such is life.

Hey, that's not fair. I can't see your location to make fun of where you are.
