I have heard so much complaining on this board about grain that I decided to make a post with movies that will (unless DNR is applied) have heavy grain! Please make contributions! NOTE: For a while lets stick with some of the bigger known titles. This can include new and old titles.
-Aliens -The Back to the Future movies -Dark City (DNR) -Dawn of the Dead (Remake) -Evil Dead (I broke my rule, but oh well) -Gladiator -King of Kong -Longest Day (DNR -Monty Python and the Holy Grail -Paton (DNR -Pi -Rollerball -Star Wars -Steven Spielberg films Last edited by Gamma_Winstead; 07-21-2008 at 05:10 PM. |

older films in general thats the way there made and thats the way weve come to appericate them. It actually an art form to some and takin it out jsut wont be right, some oldies like mr smith goes to washington or some classic hitchcock movies

when you watch the movie in a movie theater the grain is more spread out in the picture thus leaving it not showing up on the screen even though it is there but when you just watch it on a tv the grain is all bunched up together and the grain becomes noticable

Iron Man. Probably have complaint after complaint for that one. Dark Knight as well, as Nolan has said that the Blu-ray presentation will make the changes in grain structure between the 35mm and IMAX scenes apparent. Can't wait

I think the StarWars movies could use great use of this, when there in run down places there'd be more grain, like the whole Tatoine part would be filled with grain, but when in space it should be crystal clear and grain free, when on the DeathStar and inside the ships there should be moderate grain. This is just my opinion of course.

the DVD is, the 04 rereleases are a bit more "clean" then the originals they released on DVD later on, but they could edit the movie, cleaning up certain scenes. They probably won't do this, but I would love it if they would.
