Birthday is comming need Help - Blu-ray Forum

Ok, so my Birthday is this Friday. My family keeps asking me what movies to get me. My sister is terrible at keeping secrets, and I know her, her husband and my nieces are getting me Batman Begins and Hell Boy on BD.

My brother wants to know what to get me now. Here are some I am thinking of:
Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl (The first one)
Narnia: Lion Witch Wardrobe
Hairspray
American Psycho
300
Rocky

The reason 300 is so low is that I hear some rumors of a better version coming soon... and I can wait on that one if that’s true. So what do you guys think? Should I ask my brother for something off of this list?

New version includes the PIP commentary that was on the HD-DVD, I believe most everything else remains the same.

I just got Batman Begins last night. Great flick with plenty of extras (if you're into that). If your gonna get POTC...might as well get the other two.

Happy B-day! Mine is NEXT Saturday. I don't expect much since I am going to be helping my bro (we have the same b-day, twins!) move to another state. he just go married and they are going to where she is going to get a PHD. So any b-day stuff for me will be after the move. But I have a list of BD movies for that.
As for yours, yes a better 300 is coming. Same film but with Picture in Picture. I say go for one of the first 3. Or tell him to make it a surprise. If you already have it or don't want/like it, you can trade it in later.

Pirates, Narnia and 300 are all great films. There are so many good blus out now it's hard to number them. MIB, Cars and Casino Royale would also be good options if you liked them.

Get Pirates of the Caribbean, it looks and sounds amazing and it's a great movie, Narina has a great picture and sound, but I personally didn't really like the movie too much. And yeah there making a better version of 300, personally I don't like the version we have now. Some grain is good, but this almost hurts my eyes sometimes with so much grain and the picture looks extremely 2 dimensional and it doesn't look right.

Thank you all for your help, and thoughts (and birthday wishes!) I think I’m going to let him know Narnia and POTC. And I think my Amazon list and Netflix Que will be getting longer. I’m going to Netflix the ones I haven’t seen yet… for the most part I like to buy movies I have seen first. And there are some others I’ll add to getting on Blu now too. I don’t like “Double Dipping” too much, but Casino Royal keeps coming up here and in other threads so I might have to on that one! And I hear the Pixars are good too, I might have to get one of the ones I don’t have on DVD soon too.

Thanks for all the Ideas, and keep ‘em coming if you like too.

The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe and Hairspray look amazing on blu-ray. Not sure about the other ones. It is true that 300 is being re-released so I would hold off until that one comes out.

Happy late birthday to all of us! I thought I would tell you what I got. In the BD department my sister got me Hellboy and Batman Begins. My brother got me Pirates of the Caribbean: Black Pearl. On DVD my girlfriend got me "money pit" the great 80's movie. She said there is atleast one other movie, so we shail see what it ends up being. I got other things, including a sweet GPS, but then we are getting off topic. Thanks for all the great ideas. Many of thm are now on my Amazon wish list for when I have money burning a hole in my pocket or on ym netflix que.
