Default Serenity Blu-ray

I just got home with my copies of The Mummy and The Mummy Returns on Blu-ray. Inside is an insert that details some of Universals apparent Blu-ray release plans. One of those pictured was Serenity (shiny!), my most wanted formerly HD-DVD movie. I has always assumed that it was coming sooner or later, but I was still tickled to death to see it all but confirmed. Now all I need is a gorram release date!

Awesome! That was one titles I was jealous of. Now we can FINALLY watch it in HD, along with the entire Firefly series!!! All on Blu! I wonder if they will bundle them together... that would be awesome!

Don't forget the Sin City trailer that was on the earliest blu-ray's, we didn't have to wait long for that one.

They'll never be bundled together, since Fox owns the Firefly series and Universal owns Serenity.

Being on a pamphlet or advertisement doesn't necessarily mean the title is coming anytime soon - the above mentioned Sin City, as well as The Shawshank Redemption being on insert pamphlets since 2006 being two prime examples. But Geonosis has said Serenity is tentatively set for an October 2008 release, so I'm hoping he is correct (as he usually is).

Given Fox's apparent delay of "Firefly" to LATE 2008 (think December-ish) according to The Digital Bits, one has to wonder if Universal will push back "Serenity" to time it with Fox's release.

I think it could work both ways. If Uni waited for Fox to release Firefly, they could cash in on the whole buzz of the series/movie, but at the same time it could create a diversion from themselves by forcing people to choose one or the other considering the economic downturn we are in. I for one would purchase both hands down same day, but not everyone will have the necessary funds to pick up both simultaneously.

Indeed. That's his speciality.

I watched the entire Firefly series again over the last month. Really was a shame Fox dropped it.

It simply wasn't getting enough ratings for network television to stay on the air. I think it would have done better on a cable channel.

Yeah, plus the fact that fox screwed up the release order of the episodes and started the series off with the second or third episode, was confusing.

They also got stuck with friday nights too.

Fox does not know how to maintain a series... should we repeat the list of Fox one session runs...

Hell Family Guy was almost canceled early until the DVD sales showed the execs how much it was actually watched and loved...

Bafoons.

And yes, I will be buying this. I waited for ever for the Special Edition DVD to be released (never purchased the original release as i knew they would have a special edition). I will wait again. This is worth the double dip.
