Default How are Blu-ray cartridges read?

How does the backside of a Blu-ray cartridge look?
How is it read? There doesn't seem to be a sliding, read area protector like on floppy discs or minidiscs.
Any pictures?

That's an excellent question. The cartridge is most likely transparent so the Blu-ray disc recorder can read the data off the disc with the blue laser without having to care about the protective cartridge.

well from the pics i've seen the cartridge is not transparent.. it can be opaque but definitely not transparent..

i dont think cartridge is a good idea for blu-ray.. their main advantage among other is their scratch resistant protection layer.. not to mention its also dust-resistant and finger-print resistant...

Blu-ray will not be using cartridges. I'm sure it's been discussed here previously but you seem to be bumping super old threads.

In the BD that's been available in Japan, there are cartridges.

The new BD in the West will not have cartridges. It has a stronger protective coating instead.

I remember coming to this website a few months ago and many of the pics of the blu ray media had the cartridge.

They should really keep this! It is an awesome feature like a minidisc. You can toss those things around and not worry about damaging them. Sure they could make it more scratch resistant but they can't be as scratch resistant as a cartridge.
