Rock Band mic with American Idol?

Anyone here have the American Idol game for PS3? Does the Rock Band mic work with it?

Yes. The blue SingStar mic will also work but I find it is not as sensitive as the RB usb mic.

Thanks for the tip. What do you think about the game as a whole (American Idol)? My wife wants it for her b-day? Is it fun? Does it work consistently?

There are feedback issues from time to time. My GF didn't notice it but I did while listening to her. She liked AI because it has a single player game where you have to sing and do well to advance (Like AI).

If you wife likes tp sing with Singstar or RB I would get it. I would try to score it used at a GS with their 20% coupon (+10% if you have edge card).

And which would people recommend more - Sing Star, or American Idol? (For wife and kids).

Rock Band mic does NOT work with SingStar PS3 as far as I can tell. SingStar only works with SingStar mics for some reason...

Unless your wife happens to like the songs on the American Idol track list a lot, though, SingStar is definitely the superior choice, if only because of the downloadable content. The SingStore is still a little underwhelming considering how long it's been online, but there's a little something for everyone there.

RB mic (USB mic will not work with Singstar). The Singstar mics plug into a usb adapter so you can only use their offical mics. I prefer the Singstar game. It has the real songs and music videos as compared to covers and watching a character perform. Plus Singstar is exclusive to PS2 and PS3 only.

The blue SingStar mic works with Rock Band, sort of. It'll register as a USB microphone, but the pickup on the SingStar mics is so weak that it's nearly impossible to score on vocals in Rock Band even if you set the microphone sensitivity in the game to maximum.

I was hoping to just have one mic to keep around - preferrably a wireless. Oh well, thanks for the info.
