Default 16:9 vs 4:3 Difference in Definition?

I've been watching blu-ray movies with the setting of 4:3, i'm i losing a clear picture since i don't have it set on 16:9? should i have it set on 16:9?

I have a 4:3 TV (HDTV) and I use 16:9 because 4:3 looks awful on it. I know it's chopping off the sides, but that's just how it is until I decide it's time to upgrade.

WOW!!! what a difference. i've been watching blu-ray movies in the wrong aspect ratio since Feb. NOW I HAVE TO WATCH MY ENTIRE COLLECTION AGAIN!!!! thanks for the help

why? did you run it at 4:3? why didn't you see if it looked better in 16:9? You only changed it after you asked here? What were you afraid of ?

do you only have composite cables(yellow cable, red , white) or something? if you do you might want to get an hdmi cable

i always thought the picture had to be in the theatrical aspect ratio described on the back of the box (2:40.1, 1:85.1 etc.)

Ok but both of those aspect ratios are wider then 4:3. Anyways glad you figured it out and enjoy your movies now more then ever

what does your tv say when you push display or info does it say 480p?
