Default Walt Disney Treasures in Blu-ray?

Is there any chance that Disney will release Walt Disney Treasures Series http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walt_Disney_Treasures in Blu-ray? I hesitate to collect the DVD version because I am waiting for Disney to release them in Blu-ray for higher picture quality.

I think the first wave of Treasures in tins was released in limited runs of 150,000 per title; the 3rd volume of Chronological Donald (which came out with last December's wave) was cut to 30,000, and it's still available new at Amazon. If the story as I understand it is correct, the Treasures have been brought back from cancellation once already, and this year's wave is meant to be the very last. I'd love to be proven wrong, but considering the apparent size of the market for these collectibles, I think it will be a long while---if ever---before we see them on BD.

It's a shame that demand for this work is so low...but it hasn't been kept in front of an audience.

It's to bad these are excellent works from Disney. But ever since Blu-Ray or should I say the PS3, I have only bought 1 DVD.

well with blu-ray out now dont really even need dvds anymore unless the dvd has something you can't find in the blu-ray version that you cant live without or just wait for your favorite movies to come out to blu-ray because it does save you a little bit of cash and plus you can save up for when movies you want to get now and then when its out you have enough money to buy it on blu-ray but it does look like you have a lot of blu-ray already

Walt Disney is releasing a lot soon, so I would think they would be releasing it sooner or later.

I would not hold my breath for previous Treasure releases on Blu... currently I can't even imagine they'd put that effort into future Treasure releases. I think they look great on my 50" - I was watching some of the war themed cartoons and some from Chron. Donald

I hope they do come out with the Treasure Series for blu-ray because I'm missing Chronological Donald Vol. 3 and I can't find it for under $100! It was a little TOO limited. These shorts are so classic, they should be pushed harder and made more available.

yes, I'm looking forward for these in Bluray too.
Too bad that Disney doesn't care for its products as other companies do (see Looney tunes blurays, Tom and Jerry Blurays)

It'd be wonderful for Disney to release collections of animated shorts on Blu with new transfers, commentaries, extras, maybe some original titles, the same love WB gives to their Looney Tunes Blu releases.

Honestly, next year is the 90th anniversary for the studio, so anything can happen.

I would LOVE to have them on Blu, but just in case, I have all of the DVD sets. The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh would look great in high-def.

I have 11 of the Treasures DVD tin sets and was just contemplating ebaying them...but am hesitant since they're not even thought about for blu-ray release yet.

The odd part is that I watched them when I bought'em and haven't since. I just love animation and feel that collector's sense of security just for owning them.

Oh, what to do!? lol

I really hope Disney will put these all out on Blu-ray eventually. I didn't even know about the Walt Disney Treasures collection until the two Zorro sets were released (I'm a huge Zorro fan, so I snapped them up as quick as you can say "Guy Williams"). I just bought the Oswald and Mickey Black & White: Vol. 2 sets on Amazon to watch with my kids because they're the only classic Disney animation sets that can be found at semi-affordable prices anymore. The fact that all the classic Mickey, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto cartoons are completely out of print is just a shame.

I had 3 of the 4 Donald sets, and the 3rd one seems to be the most limited. I was hoping these would come out on blu-ray, but I finally I just paid the ridiculous price for it on Amazon (which was still cheaper than ebay.) I know the quality of the dvds aren't that bad, but Looney Tunes looks so great on blu that it would be nice to have the Disney ones, and it would give everyone who missed out on the dvds a chance to get them and not get ripped off.

I'm at the point where the animation ones I need are Donald 4, Pluto 2 and More Silly Symphonies, none of which have affordable import options like the others that go for high amounts (most of mine are the Italian R2 releases). I really can't justify paying above $40 for any of them even if I'd really like to round out my collection. My hope is eventually these sets will have international releases and I'll be able to pick those up.
